i'm guessing he's mostly the "idea guy" but actually somewhat knows how things work. long history of working on video games.

I'm fairly sure it's not using phison controllers but what a childish view, I guess apple or microsoft don't have hardware engineers either if they use third party hardware in their hardware

I'm pretty sure it is. Sony uses Phison for its other SSDs and the E16 matches the specs Sony released.

Sony says a lot of things. "In house" can just mean licensed. And I still have no idea why they have a bunch of prio levels since people don't use the existing ones.
