YES, because some items give different bonuses depending on your sex! For example, Charred Loyce Knight armor gives you hp for every enemy you kill ONLY if you are the opposite sex of the enemy you killed

The only thing fun about DS2 was the god awful anti cheat that let me go offline with cheat engine, give myself 99 invasion orbs and 99 push spells to harass innocent players with.
