Remember 10 years ago during Skyward Sword reveal and how we thought it'd be the greatest fucking Zelda of all time?
Remember 10 years ago during Skyward Sword reveal and how we thought it'd be the greatest fucking Zelda of all time?
Remember 9 years ago when it came out and everyone loved it?
And then 8 years ago everyone thought it was the worst fucking thing to ever grace this Earth?
Then 5 years ago nobody cared anymore?
There were parts of it that were good.
A shame about some of the more archaic parts.
I didn't mind the controls or the world being a puzzle, but they kept several of the frustrating parts of Twilight Princess in the game. Collecting light orbs was improved due to the suspense, but if I'd only needed to do it once, that would have been preferable.
I thought it was decent for a one time play through. After that though, it was just kind of tedious. Going between the sky and ground was a horrible transition, most of the dungeons weren't fun and most of the inbetween was also kind of lazy and slow. It had some fun ideas, but ultimately, motion control sword play just made it a pain.
it's the only 3D Zelda I never bothered to replay. I'd rather replay BotW again than SS.
Yeah. We were correct.
Zelda cycle.
>and everyone loved it
no, it received lukewarm praise for like 1 week until people got to the fucking dragon part having to go to the same area for the third fucking time
>Then 5 years ago nobody cared anymore
because there was evidence nintendo listened to the complaints and were making a less linear zelda
>we
Combat was fun
A ninety fucking three? Really? User score's pretty on point, though.
and it was
until botw came out
I thought it was fucking annoying after playing it for a few days. The reusing zones was lazy as fuck and the motion controls are AIDs. Windwaker was also always gay as fuck and garbage, fuck your gay little """"zelda cycle"""
I remember how badly the presentation went for this game. Miyamoto couldn't get the wiimote to work properly live on stage in front of everyone. This is when we all knew it wasn't going to be the best Zelda game of all time.
Funny enough, as much as I love the Zelda series, SS is the only one I bought on launch. What a poor decision that was.
This and Phantom Hourglass were the worst games in the Zelda series excluding shit nobody cares about like the Game & Watch, CDi and Satelleview games. The 7th gen was such a dark age for the series.
It was probably for the best in the end since Nintendo really learned from those games and ended up producing ALBW and BotW in response to them, and they've completely rejuvenated the brand, but looking back they're a perfect example of how far removed Nintendo was from the core gaming crowd during that era and how badly it hurt the reception of games like Corruption and Skyward Sword.
ask me how i know you're fat
Okay granpa now take your meds
If the Switch keeps selling, they'll get cocky again and start making bullshit. All game companies are at their best when they're humbled and trying to court players. Look at Xbox right now.
i love PH, SS, ALBW and BOTW. they all do very different things though
how was PH bad? it had pretty great gameplay and certainly was better than fucking ST.
Obsessed bongoloid can't get Americans out of his mind. How embarrassing.
>Better than Spirit Tracks
retard detected
It's already happening with how they have fucking nothing lined up for the remainder of 2020 beyond a Pikmin port and a Famicom Detective Club remake that's not leaving Japan. They're riding the success of Ring Fit and Animal Crossing the rest of the year and using Covid as an excuse when every other company in the industry seems to have adapted to quarantine months ago.
>Remember 9 years ago when it came out and everyone loved it?
No
>And then 8 years ago everyone thought it was the worst fucking thing to ever grace this Earth?
I remember that near launch
>Then 5 years ago nobody cared anymore
I remember it remaining fairly divisive, with praise for its dungeon design and criticism basically everywhere else.
Kill yourself. The discourse on WW became more positive over time as its fans matured and took part in the community that hated its art direction. Then time passed further and WW is neither revered nor despised but assessed pretty fairly as inspired in some areas but clearly unfinished in others. The Zelda cycle is less about nostalgia blindness setting in over time and just people being able to look at what each game brought to the table more objectively over time.
I still don’t understand why they don’t have a holiday lineup yet. What is their thought process at this point?
>with praise for its dungeon design
It had some of the most braindead and boring "use this one tool you just found a million times to beat this one dungeon" design that I've even seen in a Zelda game.
Nah, Tri Force Heroes is worse than both, and this is coming from someone who owns the game and completed it with 2 other people IRL.
If Xbox is at at its "best" right now I think it's time to take the thing out back
I liked how the level 3 goddess shield looked a lot. All shiny and neat.
Then I was upset to learn I had to "upgrade" it to the shitty hylian shield anyway.
>as its fans matured
They're still stuck in 2003 and fall back on Celda or muh wind whenever anyone talks shit about its shortcomings
Honestly that's the only Zelda game I've never played and really have no intention to. I can't speak for its quality so I left it out.
yeah, it is mostly the good impression of the sandship and the ancient basin, the others are forgettable as fuck so people come out with a favorable impression. The sandhip is legit god tier tho, and that final "arrange the rooms" dungeon was good too
I wasn't expecting better than TP from the outset based on the art. That said, I still like the game more than most seem to care to admit and I did give it 2 playthroughs.
I also liked Lanayru Mining Facility but to be fair Timeshift Stones were a boner inducing mechanic IMO.
Corruption was good. Not AS good as Prime or Echoes but it was good.
