Where?

Or buy it.

old-games.ru/game/download/1825.html

Neither game is good.

The internet.

Where? I’d happily give the CREATOR money for these games. They’re not available anywhere. I know returns is on Origin, but the original is nowhere to be found.

Cheers.

I think if you buy Madness Returns on Origin it includes the original. Or you can just download the original from myabandonware.com, or from here steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=645862676

The version on myabandonware is the original release, and it'll have some minor graphical issues unless you set it up to work with nGlide. The Steam version is the HD remaster which I'm less fond of because it does some things like disables the console and changes a few sound effects, but it's not that big of a deal if you don't care much about that.

The first one is great outside of the forest which is a slog that never fucking ends.
Just a constant litany of novelty and firefights.
Works fine on modern hardware, I think.

Didn't care for the sequel. It's like the entire game was "the forest level."

I haven't played Madness Returns but I think the original is still fun to play. The jumping animations are a little slow sometimes which can make it feel clunky but it's really fun once you start learning how to use the weapons in combination with each other.

Wait, Madness Returns is on Steam?

Alternatively you can get both the original and the sequel here
rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5345143
Or just the sequel here
rutracker.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5160099

WAS on steam. If you want to buy, you'll have to install origin.

I mean, I’d rather NOT install Origin, but if it’s the only way to buy the game legitimately, I just might, if it includes the original with MR.

It was on Steam a while ago but it didn't include the original like it should have, those are just the files to get the original working. It can run without Madness Returns installed if you just make a desktop shortcut to the alice.exe and add "-RunningFromAlice2" without the quotes to the desktop shortcut properties target line.

more like 3.Pray it actually runs and doesn't crash

Well he's completely split with EA and isn't exactly getting royalties, bud, if that's your deal then just chuck a tenner at whatever funding operation American McGee is on now and pirate the cunts.

Alright, so the best way to get both if I don’t currently own either is to just get MR on Origin? Or is there a download to the old Steam version?

Oh well, if McGee’s not getting shit, then I’ll happily pirate both.

Why are you so fucking lazy - it's not remotely difficult to do and rather than engage your brain to try and do something, you come to an Azerbaijani cat milking forum to beg for validation from strangers.
Grow up, man up - and get a job.

You can only play it through Steam if you bought it a long time ago, you have to get it through Origin now or just download them from somewhere else.

Alright, that sounds good man. Cheers.

It's one of my favorite games and I pirated it more than once. EA really screwed over McGee. I have bought stuff from his shop and he replied to comments I made some times. What a cool dude. Life really has fucked him over and then some.

Link to his shop?

DON'T PLAY MADNESS RETURNS.
While the first game is an absolute masterpiece, the 2nd one is worse than rancid shit, with none of the qualities that made the first game great.

I played the original game on PS3 because it came freely with the sequel. The controls were as clunky as a PC to PS3 conversion could be, but it was still playable and really fun. In fact, I liked the first game much more than the sequel.
Both are worth trying. You could do like me and play them both on PS3, although you might want the authentic PC experience.

It's mostly women stuff but have a look

Yeah you were right, not my kind of stuff, sad because I would like t orecognize his work, I am not OP btw.

Alice looks good

That model is WIP still. They’re redoing the face as the chin is too big and etc...

The only other person I’ve heard spout this is some radical feminist videogame essayist who bitched about Alice being a Manic Pixie Dream Girl in Alice 2, and complaining that men can’t write about sexual abuse.

I think I’ll ignore everything you say. I’ve watched clips of Madness Returns and it looks fantastic.

A lot of people who are fans of the first game find the second one to be disappointing. Mainly because of gameplay, it's common for people to say the game just drags on, and for some reason has no boss fights. The soundtrack in the sequel also disappoints a lot of fans of the original because it took a more ambient tone. McGee himself even said there are a lot of problems with Madness Returns and that it has too much filler content.

While the game does look great, there are plenty of reasons for people to dislike it that don't involve politics. Play it for yourself and form your own opinions of course, but at least be aware of the real arguments.
