git gud
it's dated, don't bother
Some cinematic Sony shit might be more of your speed.
Tried not being subhuman?
What the fuck are you talking about?
Just crouch around, it's not hard.
I finished this game for the first time a couple of days ago, I feel empty inside
any good mods? playing the goty edition on steam btw
it's because it's a shit game and this coming from a 28 years old boomer.
play the reboot Dues Ex, they are much more fun and better in every way
Keep seething nostalgiafag
Stealth is really easy in this game. You're invisible to guards if you just crouch behind them. They die/get knocked out in one hit with a baton/riot prod if you hit them from behind at the bottom of the spine, you don't even need to level up your low-tech skill. The guards don't wake up when they lose consciousness and other guards don't react to all their colleagues lying on the ground unconcious/dead. Every security terminal can be easily hacked into so you can turn off all the cameras.
How so? I think lighting has an effect on how visible you are.
Been playing through this again, never finished it back when I was a teen (on my PS2 lmao) and I feel now is a better time to appreciate it, currently running around NYC before Hong Kong, I think that was where I stopped playing last time.
One odd thing that happened when I was playing was that when Paul joins the NSF and you go back to UNATCO, the music didn't play correctly. It felt like a channel was missing and it sounded really cool, wish I could replicate it but it sounded a lot different and I'm still not sure if it was on purpose or a glitch.
I'm surprised the game doesn't have any rewards for being non-lethal. I was using the crossbow and baton during the first mission but just stopped when I found out there's no real reason to do it even though I feel Denton would. Once I found the silencer for my Glock it's all I've been using.
Carter gives you some shit in the beginning for being a good boy, but yeah other than that the whole design is really meant to be completing objectives in whatever way you feel like.
>zoomers getting filtered
Just appreciate the music of the game
Take the loud and lethal pill.
Did you play GMDX, or Revision?
it's not, it's literally the same as mgs with a different camera, same range of detection, everything.
your brain is incapable of adapting? thanks for telling us, you're like people who start to play a multiplayer shooter all their friends are playing, got rekt, and then go on here saying it's bad to everyone out of frustration while their friends have fun without them
Nah like every other stealth-like game from that era it's incredibly easy to exploit the enemy AI because it's so basic. Once you figure it out stealth becomes a joke.
the only time i went lethal was to protect paul in the hotel room, after that i went non-lethal except for the guys in the suits who put up both their arms and shoot at you, I wanted to get to the end and free as many people as possible from the grasp of assholes, although I saved and picked all three endings, I prefer the computer one
Yeah but it's not really necessary. The game is too easy for you to want to do stealth run anyway. If being outnumbered would get you fucked up, maybe then there was a reason to try to sneak around.
u wot m8
>cinematic takedowns
>broken xp system
>please choose between ugly yellow filter or ugly grey environments
>Jensen how dare you shoot someone who has literally taken a woman hostage.
>yo Jensen get in this box for no real reason other then you'll probably get lucky
Nah.
Remember when back in 2011, people were so starved for non-shit first person games, they tricked themselves into thinking HR was a return to form for Deus Ex? Shit, IW is more faithful to the original than HR, despite all it's flaws.
I played it for the first time last month and I loved it
If you use the Shifter mod (included with Revision), you are rewarded for going non-lethal (a better baton) or full lethal (explosive pistol ammo).

You think HR is bad? Well, it could be far worse: Project Snowblind was supposed to be Deus Ex 3.
What's the ideal way of playing this game? Do I install the Revision mod or the Nameless mod or GDMX? How much does revision change the game?
GMDX is a tasteful subtle improvement, play that first. Revision brings greater changes, play that second to see what they've changed. Nameless mod is *completely* different with new plot, levels, and characters.
I hate that stealth needs you to hit a specific spot
no, kys
stop larping zoomer
the 2010s were a truly dark times for video games so anything that was even remotely close to an actual good game was a breath of fresh air back then
The only thing that's dated about Deus Ex is how conspiracy is structured. We now see that MGS 2 was right and that everything is controlled simulation. Deus Ex seems naively optimistic in retrospect. In reality, UNATCO already won and is just creating Ambrosia narrative and the revolutionaries as a pleb filter / distraction fodder.
the actual gameplay is shit, what makes it fun is the amount of options available to the player
The AI is braindead, use it to your advantage
