Was that Altered Beast? I honestly don't remember. Never even played Altered Beast in the arcades, only on Mega Drive. The one I remember very clearly is Golden Axe's arcade ending, where they all jumped out of the machine and the credits roll. That gave me a chuckle.

It was pretty cool the first time I played it, but honestly is overall a pretty mediocre Mega Drive game all things considered. That system had so many better action games. Though you kinda have to cut it some slack since Altered Beast was indeed a launch game.

It's not a bad game, but I guess relative to other action games available on the Mega Drive, it is noticeably not as good. I should replay this game. I think I did manage to beat it once, I remember Altered Beast's later levels being very stupidly difficult and unfair.

when it was released the graphics were amazing, just looking at the eye transformation on the screen of the arcade cabinet was kino af. And all those huge sprites on screen were really different from what we were used to.
the playabiolity is very bad though, although I did manage to 1cc it once in my lifetime

Yeah, I guess. I think for a lot of these old arcade games, it's a case of "you'd understand if you were there". Like Outrun, fucking loved that game. But I can see kids these days being dismissive of it after playing thr SEGA AGES port of it. The hydraulics on that machine man, that's some cool shit.
