It's justification for basically anything. There's probably some line on the bible somewhere that excuses almost everything. And since it's the word of the creator of all that exists, infinitely superior to anyone, who are you to question that, right?

Oddly enough I live with a guy called Isaac who had a super-christian mom turned actual schizophrenic hearing voices that seems to mirror a lot of the themes in the game. As in the religious stuff that was drilled into his head and scared him as a kid, as well as some of the same experiences. Game doesn't even seem that far-fetched, just comes from a pretty interesting mind to put it all together.

McMillen, the creator of the game, also grew up in a strict Christian household. That's where he got a lot of the ideas and potentially similiar mental scars. My point is still that it's not Christianity being crazy, it's Christians. Not just the people practicing it, also the ones teaching its "Dogmas". The point of Christianity is love and understanding, yet people punish others for not following those rules, which completely misses the point.

I agree with you, though I think it's one of those things that has been so widely misused, it makes me question when it's properly used anymore. How many acts of compassion happen due to Christianity versus people justifying atrocities and forcing their viewpoints on others?

Maybe it's just me, but the more religious the people I've met are, the more likely they are to be intolerant, vindictive people who end up causing great suffering to their families and children. I still get e-mails from that particular Isaac's dad nearly every other day talking about the word of god but I know he acts the opposite in real life.

I honestly think at the end of it all, all religions are (probable blackpill here, beware) just useful tools to cope with our mortality which is why they always feature that as a key point and often start "recruiting you" by talking about that.
