CS was already Quake for retards.
Simplicity my dude, but not too much simplicity like Battlefield and CoD4 do.
To git gud at Quake is a lot harder than to git gud in CS. Gitting gud im Battlefield/CoD is almost trivial and doesn't tickle the pickle.
So you have the mediumcore game being the most popular and longest lasting one. Simple.
Quake and Unreal are akin to an RTS
Counter Strike is akin to DOTA
I want a modern Arena FPS to play so bad it hurts, bros... I'll never forgive Epic for abandoning UT4 for Forknife.
I like that they added this design in QC.
UT is slow garbage and Quake is too fast for zoomers.
But Eggs, bro
name the last GOOD quake or unreal to come out!
Realistic setting is does not put off anyone
Economy actually is a great mechanic and brings a lot of variety
Slower pace means slower gameplay and less burnout
Maps are not just symmetrical death coliseums and has some variety
Grenade utility also brings more interesting elements
The amount of energy you put in 1 hour of an arena shooter you can play CS with 4 hours with.
Its weird how some people seem to be able to aim better without a crosshair on. How the fuck does that work?
>Counter-Strike still popular
Lootboxes.
>Quake
>Unreal
People hate hard games, they want to get their dopamine quick and with no effort.
Unironically asian hype beasts have found out about csgo skins and they go crazy for it
because its a 1vs1 game and you cant blame your team mates. not everyone is able to handle 1vs1, its really stressful for most people.
also fuck cs, ogrewatch and all the other retard shit.
>arena fps
>only symmetrical maps
Clearly you've never played Quake. Can't speak for UT.
Only the top 1% play Duel. Everybody else plays DM, TDM, CTF, or Clan Arena.
No unlocks, just introduce paid skins and infinite treadmill. Dumb fucks will gubble it up.
well then 99% of the playerbase isnt really playing quake.
people cant handle moving and shooting at the same time
Honestly I have no idea why CS is still popular but it's obvious why Quake and Unreal aren't
Skill floor and ceiling are too high for the average player plus with Doom Eternal everybody realized that style is better suited for single player anyway which Quake and Unreal both foolishly abandoned
uh huh
CS has alot of factors that make it more interesting for the casual player compared to UT or Quake. Off the top of my head there's stuff like
>minimal resource management, no need to time weapon, armour or powerups
>movement is simplified so you dont have to learn things like bunnyhopping, momentum or jumps
>aiming has rng, its easier to blame an unlucky spray pattern than whiff a rail shot
>easier to understand maps, you know the enemy can only spawn on one side of the map and come down certain paths
>team game, its better to blame allies faults than yourself
CS also has a better learning curve. As your game knowledge progresses, you understand more complex mechanics like smoke and flash points, boosts, resource management and tactics. But the main thing is that its easier for casuals to get in, some will stick and go further in CS compared to the meat grinder of a cruve than is UT or Quake.
When was the last time you had a chill game of unreal or quake where you didn't have to think about 300 things on the map as well as focusing on keeping up and intense speed? In counter-strike even the most retarded player can get a kill or two per round just with angles and letting others push you, as well as being a medium paced game
yesterday
not in duel of course
Quake is more simplistic, that's why it gets old so quickly. You're confusing simplicity and difficulty, quake is all about mechanical skill.
Quake III Arena or to a lesser extent Quake Live
Because most Quake games end up like this.
Quake Champions. Still waiting for anew SP Quake.
quake thread?
twitch.tv
WC going on. Raisy vs Cha1n now
pretty sure it's because this is a demo
Played quake champions recently to get all the characters. It was pretty fun. It seems really fast too. Is it not fast enough for older quake fans?
It's the same speed. The pretend Q3 diehards don't have computers good enough for a modern Quake game.
as far as i know it's because it has absolutely no community content, has lootboxes, and the hit detection is worse than q3/live
>Quake
>Unreal
>hard
Take a look at this casual.
>Loot boxes
Only thing I saw on there is the battle pass shit.
>Hit detection
Well you got me there. I did feel like I was missing shots.
Should I buy Quake III on GOG and send copies to my friends?
>no community content
True.
>has lootboxes
Technically but they changed the cosmetic system so you can just buy whatever you want. Lootboxes, while they do technically exist still, the entire new system phased them out.
>the hit detection is worse than q3/live
They fixed hit detection ages ago.
only if you know your friends are up to playing it
there's some browser version of quake 3 btw
quakejs.com
>railgun someone directly in upper chest, even get the hit notification on and bolt stops
>keeps momentum-ing away
it's absolute shit and feels very unrewarding when stuff like that happens
are you talking about hitreg now or weapon damage impact on momentum?
Quake and arena shooters in general are too shallow and repetitive to hold a significant player base for long.
Even competitive CS, which is just de_dust2 for 99% of players still has more playstyle variety and round to round variation than any given Q3 match on any given level, which is always going to be about securing the holy trinity and shooting the other guy with them.
