FACTORIO

Official release on the 14th

How can devs be so amazingly clever to make a game so perfect in every way (even modding wise)

Thoughts and opinions?

One of the best developers I've seen in decades, both in their skill and passion. Played through it twice, once solo and once fully co-op with some mods to make it harder. Fantastic game. I still check out the weekly blog to see what else they've improved.

INB4:

1) The release will be fucking nothing since 95% of the people who wanted the game already heard about it and have it
2) No major new content for game release on release
3) Valve doesn't advertise it in any meaningful way because they don't want Factorio to get pushed up any higher on their ratings boards
4) The game doesn't appeal to the vast majority of gamers who will think it's just an ugly Starcraft alien game.

It's a good game, but the release won't be anything since there's absolutely no marketing for the game except word-of-mouth. Release dates are only for games that haven't been released early or for games that have huge marketing budgets and "make a day" out of the release. Factorio is neither of these.

The game is feature complete, they're mostly adding minor stuff and improving the graphics.

I'm just a little bit pissed that people say the most efficient thing ever is a mainbus but it actually runs like shit

dude your meme is stale, you need to stop posting it in every thread

Nah man, I disagree, many people wait because they got burned on early access. Also I think many people who played irregularly will jump in and see the improvements (like people losing their shit over copypaste functionality, that's golden).

Price going up again?

>2) No major new content for game release on release
isn't it already confirmed that this is what's happening? The full release is just implementing minor changes to the fluid system and a few aesthetic improvements

Nope, it will remain $30.

besiege is better

About time to be honest.
It's been over 7 years since their crowdfunding campaign.
It has really come a long way though.

They aren't remotely comparable honestly, 2 completely seperate concepts. This is like saying an orange is better than a 1968 Dodge Charger. It doesn't make any sense.

>this is the best game ever made according to PCfags

>It has really come a long way though.

The game was basically complete since space science and infinite research was done. The graphical update wasn't required at all, beyond the necessity of making trains and train stations "fit the grid" so you didn't get inserters dumping shit onto tracks.

All they've really been doing is optimizing, bug fixing and graphical "polishing" (bloating) for a few years now.

It's a great game and i got my money's worth of enjoyment out of it, but it's done and i'm finished with it like any other old game i have.

Early Access was a mistake

lmao is this a real screenshot? I've only known Factorio for like 3 years.

Yeah, the graphics used to be a lot simpler.

I'm glad they decided to redo them. There'd be a high chance I don't touch game looking like that.

everything looks like placeholder

I have a rule that I never play Early Access games, and this has been the hardest one to wait for.
By my luck I'll get COVID and die before the 14th.

I didn't see much appeal in this game. got bored rather quickly into it.

Because everything was a placeholder. This is from the alpha days. Factorio has been in dev since I was an adolescent. I'm 27 now.

you can just play it now, there's literally nothing left for them to implement, it's feature complete and has been for a long time. last year or so has been minor graphics updates, some optimization, a little more mod functionality, that's it.

also i've spent ~300 hours playing it over about 5 years and i literally can't stand it anymore, the game is identical to doing a 9-5 shitty white collar job. if that's your thing, congrats you'll really enjoy it, there's tons of work that needs to be done to get a factory working right and you have to constantly re-build old shit or move things to make room for other things, it gets extremely tiresome very quickly.

The dev needs to put in a other alien race to fight

It's an ever-expanding puzzle you create yourself and defend against endless alien hordes. It's amazing and you're a brainlet for thinking it's anywhere near comparable to your shitty wageslave job.

His job probably has lice and ticks and has to constantly fight them off

it's a puzzle that your own mental nature either makes perfect from the start or constantly fucks up and duct tapes it. eventually your only desire is to throw it all out and start again, and then you start a new game and go 'fuck i don't have bots, i move too slow, yellow ug belts don't have enough range' and you just get tired.

it's not a shit game, it's real good at what it does, but it has a finite limit for people who don't want to be actively solving a puzzle for hours upon hours every day.

i work IT, it's all solving puzzles, i get enough of that already. you can't relax and play a game of factorio, it's not designed to do that.

I’ve played this game a few times and always give up at endgame. It just takes too fucking long to craft shit at that point, I don’t want to sit and idle for a half hour while I craft things. Is this just a fundamental flaw of the game or am I retarded and doing something wrong? Do people automate most of the advanced crafting things by endgame to cut down time?

Is this a troll? You shouldn't be crafting anything by hand after the first hour or so. If you want to get into good habits, try going for the Lazy Bastard achievement.

Yes.
Figure whatever you are lacking and just copy and paste that part of your factory, that's what are the bots for.

I don't make it perfect from the start, or so shitty I have to constantly fight the urge to restart. I just keep adding to it and remodel parts of it extremely easily once I unlock construction bots.

If you're waiting for something to happen while doing nothing you're doing something wrong, yes. If you need more than one of an item you should automate it. If it's being crafted so slow that you have to constantly wait for more to be made you need to improve your production to craft it faster.
This is literally a game about automation.

IT is basically a bastardized version of co-op-pvp against braindead retards

you can do better than that, observe
