Why is there so much hate for the Arbiter missions in this game?
>banshee combat while shitty rock music plays in the arbiter
>hunting down the heretic leader and surviving waves of flood while plummeting through the atmosphere in a space station after severing its cables
>fighting your way through forerunner defenses and flood to retrieve the index before the humans do in quarantine zone
all of his missions are absolutely iconic and some of the best in the series

people with taste like the Arby missions and are sad that there wasn't an equivalent in Halo 3, it's the pleb patrol that whines about them. Arbs has some of my favorite missions in Halo 2 but he also has the one with the death bus to Library which many people find intolerable especially on Legendary, that alone might be the answer

I was really let down that Arby didnt have his own missions in 3. He is a more interesting character than MC, who I hoped to get more backstory on in 3. Nope turns out all that shit about Spartans is in fucking books

Mainly because the flood are awful to fight in Halo 2 and Sacred Icon/Quarantine Zone are legitimately the worst levels in the franchise. Everything else is fine though.
Also fuck you, Incubus is great

2 and 3 were written by vastly different people, it's no surprise any kind of characterization was flushed down the toilet in 3, along with the more interesting plot points from 2 (Truth, Gravemind and Cortana's rampancy)

THIS WILL SAVE ME FROM THE STORM, BUT YOU WILL BE CONSUMED

>the flood are too hard
>I like Incubus
This answer is better than anything I could have written

>Fighting bullet sponges with really inconsistent headshot hitboxes is fun

I thought so. Halo 2 had peak flood for me, they were very punishing and forced you to play at the best of your ability and think about how to approach scenarios. 2's flood filters people like crazy, most prefer 3's flood since they had everything that made them hard or interesting removed for your convenience

None of the arbiter levels are about what makes Halo good, instead of sandbox combat in semi-open levels, you just run down corridors full of hitscan enemies. Halo 2 is overhyped trash with terrible level design, CE and ODST are the only good campaigns in the franchise.

Halo 2's flood just amplifies all the annoying parts of Halo 1's flood. Multiplying enemy health isn't good game design, it just makes the game more tedious especially when you don't give the player any effective weapons to deal with them.

Sacred Icon is the only real stinker but you can run past just about every encounter, but I don't think that justifies the level being tedious. Ending fight was much more enjoyable than the Quarantine Zone elevator ride.

I can agree they should have had less HP (or resistance to bullets/plasma whichever it actually was technically). Their only real flaw is that they pretty much invalidated weapons like SMGs on Heroic/Legendary

legit question, wtf is this "sandbox combat" people talk about, especially when shit talking Halo 2? CE is majority corridor/interior shooting, it has open parts sure but the parts without vehicles are just as small as some of 2's parts without vehicles, in fact 2's vehicle-less outdoor areas are bigger than CE's for the most part and also more complex.

And in the parts with vehicles, it's not a fucking sandbox: you get in the vehicle and use it to kill everything. Or you skip everything. Or if you're a fucking madman, you skip everything on foot. This shit is meaningless

>like Halo
>have CE anniversary, 3, ODST, 4 and Reach on 360
>OG Xbox is missing cables
>PC is a toaster
>have a ps4, not an Xbone
>mfw no way i can play Halo 2

Arbiter has no connection to Chief in 2 other than 1 (one) scene where he tells him to fuck off.

>why dont people like playing as some enemy guy?

the whole game is good to me.

Because the game is literally a shoestring mess of four or five other games that Microsoft forced Bungie to finish. I'm not shitting you, do some research on Halo 2's dev cycle. They had individual teams working on their own sections of the game. But none of those teams communicated with each other. So 75% to release some one finally notices that all of that time, money, and effort was wasted on four completely different games that made absolutely no fucking sense. Seriously. The end product that shipped was made in only a few months.

Halo 2 is amazing to me because everything you said is true but the game still works, probably a fluke because Reach shows you what happens when you roll the dice and lose

Honestly death bus would be fine if not for the fact that the flood shotgun doesn't seem to have any spread and can kill you in one hit even on heroic at pretty much any distance despite the fact that the Halo 2 shotgun is pretty much the worst gun in the entire series when it's in your hands.

>CE and ODST are the only good campaigns in the franchise.
dangerously based

I hate Bungie for giving all of the shitty flood levels to Arbiter. Quarantine Zone is still good and one of my favorite levels from 2 though

Incubus music is garbage and the environments became boring fast imo (except the last one of course).
The flood isn't a problem with a sword or sentinel beam, but it's not as fun as fighting it with a shotgun.
The Arbiter is a great character, seeing the covenant point of view was interesting and a real plus, and having elites and grunts on your side was cool.
A bungie era spin of game with the Arbiter (or other arbiters) would have been awesome.

Halo2 campaign is generally shit. Arby’s missions are the worst of the bunch
>have fun slowly killing banshees and other filler til you fight the heretic
>have fun riding gondalas for 10 min

and then later you fight 2's brutes which are dog shit.

>heretic summons holograms to distract you
>their hologram plasma rifles fire hologram plasma at you
>the plasma is real and can kill you
complete fucking bullshit

2 is BC on 360, the only issue I remember ios that sometimes the cutscenes character models can have burn-in (not TV burn-in, emulation issue) during the gameplay but it goes away once you save and exit the mission.

i did like how threatening they were when they were enraged unlike in 3. didn't play reach so don't know how they act in that one

Arbiter is what makes Halo 2 worthwhile, Chief's missions in Halo 2 suck after he leaves Earth

I don't think there are brutes in Reach. Also not sure what his problem is with Halo 2's brutes in the first place, they're pretty much exactly the same as in 3 but they have a 100% chance to rage when they're the last in their squad.

brutes are in like the sixth mission onwards in reach

What is the most satisfying reloading animation and why is CE's shotgun?
