Recently played origins and yes, the history is divided in "chapters" based on key people you kill at the end of each.

Historical events and figures should be the same as in history books, we have a lot of old movies about the revolution if they need reference material

odissey (the last game out) really wasn't. you can assassinate people but you can ohko almost no one. the basest of soldiers (athenian archers, bandits) yes. all rest you need to make your build to max assassin damage and even then not really feasible if not on the easier difficulties (difficult = more hp basically) or by lategame when you can make 100% crit shit. besides all your "targets" are more like boss fights
origins (the previous game) you could. you had to upgrade the hidden blade (as well as the rest of the gear apart from weapons) to keep up but otherwise apart from """minibosses""" you could do it. here your targets were actually meant to be assassinated (for the most part)
