Good until you hit a grindwall (it's different for different people) and then you quit. I got 100hrs out of it while only putting in $20 I came off alright.

Then here's a tl;dr for you
The game was successful despite the company. Lightning struck, and the company was too incompetent to take advantage of it. Players kept giving them feedback, but the devs just said "Bullshit! We know better than you!" and ignored them. They've done this for years, their idiocy finally caught up with them, and the game is dead as a result.

All I do on this game is run around with Glaive Proto, w/e the magnum is, and Excalibur Proto and pretend to be Hayden Tenno from Dark Sector.

Honestly think it's one of the least grindiest MMOs out there. You can get everything in the game for free, and it's not that difficult to grind for items to sell for plat (the premium currency). There's a decent amount of different weapons and frames that enable a decent variety of playstyles. Graphics are godly (for a F2P MMO).

The issue with it is that mission variety is kind of lacking and they get mad boring at times. Higher tier encounters are just straight "enemies deal more damage and have more health" rather than having more unique abilities. There's is little to no actual quest system, and their attempts at adding individual quests is incredibly weak. The recent additions of open world regions was interesting, but still boring with how each instance can only have 4 people (and that they all have to leave together; this should not be a thing anymore).

I played this game since Loki was a starter frame (and tipedo's were used for mobility) and it's gotten better. It's fun coming back to it every so often, but then you start thinking about why you're grinding (as end-game content has always been meh and not that dynamic) and you stop.

Have they finally stopped wasting years of development time on shitty open world content that lasts maybe a month instead of working on more important thing like new tilesets?

They wasted years of development time on Kuva Liches and Railjack, but both were so barebones, you wonder what they wasted years on.
They also released an update to an old tileset earlier this year, but the two aforementioned patches already caused me to quit, so I have no idea how the new Corpus ship tileset is.

Other than that, they're still working on new open worlds, as far as I know.

I don't play it anymore now that I'm bored of it, but I don't regret playing it while the fun lasted. It was free, anyway.

you try to figure out what the fuck to do the first 30-ish hours
then you spend 50 hours enjoying yourself
then you spend 200 hours grinding like a motherfucker
then you just wonder why you're still playing this game

I literally cannot stop masturbating whenever I select a female frame. I have to exclusively use Rhino P/Excal Umbra because if I use one of the meta female frames, I end up needing to coom 10 minutes into a mission.

I still play, but most of these hours were from a few years ago.

I like it because the base gameplay can be a lot of fun. The movement and combat feels really fluid and being able to casually switch from shooting to melee to flipping around the map is engaging on its own. I'm also one of those people who wants to have at least one of everything, so the sheer number of weapons, frames and cosmetics keeps me coming back to grind for new stuff, despite most of that stuff being generally sub-optimal.

Its not a great time to be getting into it. The game is in a bit of a bad state. DE has neglected new player onboarding since the game was launched. You really have to play with the wiki open or get handheld through the first 50 hours with a tutorial series or you WILL be lost and spend hours doing shit you don't need to do. They're missing vital information, like some of the most important mod locations and how certain mechanics work. And the game systems are just plain obtuse if you don't already know what you're doing.

To cap it off, DE are in a phase where they haven't really been listening to feedback. Players have been asking for revisists to old content, fixes and updates, for years, and instead they're chasing the high of these big updates like Railjack, which DE is too small to really deliver on. Railjack is honestly a pretty impressive technical gamemode. Having 4 players all running around on a ship, which itself is moving in space, and any of them can jump out and fly around independently or board enemy ships, is all pretty fucking amazing. But they managed to make something like that boring by tuning it so poorly that even regular swarm ships take 30 seconds to shoot down. Then have the gall to drag their heels about fixing it, because the devs thought thats how it should be.

Its more obvious than for most devs that DE does not actually play Warframe, or when they do, its with dev builds, and its really killing it.

There's three main factions with different aesthetics
>grineer, ugly faces, oddly round industrial aesthetic
>corpus, boxy space tech, lots of light strips
>tenno (warframes) bio-mechanical weebs
There's also the infested which is just one of the former with shit growing on it, and sentients which are just unown from pokemon glued together.
You now have everything you need to design warframe shit.
