Tactical missiles.
Blue used a scout plane to find red's commander and then focused him down with artillery. Red had plenty of time to prevent it but chose to attack black instead.
Looks like Blue made a poor decision with not taking out Yellow with their artillery.

T1 bombers I assume? Build just as many interceptors and maintain a strong air game (scouting, etc). When he attacks you should be able to blast him out of the sky and then reclaim the mass from the dead bombers.
While you are doing that you should be harassing his outlying mass with small squads of T1 units (artillery is quite good for this). It doesn't matter if you lose them as long as you are making some dent in his eco, so you shouldn't micro these raids.
Eventually you will find yourself in a stronger position and this is when you should build a force to attack his base. Target his energy because will cripple his air production and probably his eco too.

It's really well balanced. It's assassination based though, so instead of losing instantly because your army stepped on one or two burrowed zergs or got hit by one templar spell the whole match is about finding ways to destroy the enemy commander while defending yours. If you succeed, his whole force dies. That's why there's constant action on the map and players aren't afraid to lose units.
This isn't a starcraft thread buddy. I win most matches with my friends despite having the second lowest APM and only using 2 hotkeys.

Very little land and lots of water makes for really quick deaths for commanders

Yes.
Units take time to get out of a factory to allow another unit to start being built. So at some point adding engineers does nothing.
I typically make multiple land/naval factories and only one/a few air factories because planes almost immediately get out of the way.
At least you're not a braindead UEF main.
