higher rez texture

Why was 3 never on PC?

Storage is cheap asf literally almost costs zero

It's 219 now, isn't it?

for some reason mine is a few gigs smaller than others

>brainlet opinipon
It's to deter pirates!

It's just dev's incompetence

It's intentionally leaving less disk space for competing products in an attempt to boost player retention and as a result, mtx profits

No textures are a joke. They're basically jpgs. The real problem is uncompressed audio and multiple languages all packed in at once instead of segregating them so users can pick and choose which language they want. It's fucked. I fucking hate BluRay for making this nightmare scenario real.

The graphics haven't really improved since 2.
What the fuck are they doing?

>It's intentionally leaving less disk space for competing products in an attempt to boost player retention and as a result, mtx profits
jokes on them. its size made it the first in line to the chopping block when it came time to clean up.

Remember when MGS 4 took up the entire 50GB on the PS3 blu-ray disc because of Kojima's autism with uncompressed audio? funny times

Yes.

>uncompressed audio?
mgs4 has tons of videos, the uncompressed audio was with titanfall

uncompressed audio.

laziness.

Because compression costs performance. The more you compress certain files(textures, audio etc.) the more your CPU and memory have to do to decompress them. That usually increases load times, causes micro stutter or even bad FPS. So since storage space is cheap as chips developers usually don't even bother compressing files anymore. But you're going to ignore this post anyway.

>10gb BO2
Holy based best COD game

>storage space is cheap as chips
200GB isnt

>Because compression costs performance.
Wrong

lack of physical copies
the couple of first ones were perfectly fit for cd and dvd roms

>Because compression costs performance.
>game still has average length load screens with triple the average storage footprint

checkmate atheists

The new CoD is going to be announced today. Both Activision and the developers of MW2019 have said that Warzone will "follow the new game" meaning that the map + skins + models will be changed to represent the new game. Prepare for MW2019/Warzone to be +250gb by the end of the year.

>What the fuck are they doing?
Eliminating competition. If your game is so big that your playerbase won't have other games installed, you win.

It's insane how third party games had to be compressed super hard back in 7th gen due to 360 using DVDs instead of Blu Ray discs
Once that restriction was released, every dev unleashed the file sizes like fat people unbuckle their belts after a massive dinner

It was 30GB, actually. Kojima lied about >muh 2 fully written BD layers

Compressed audio in games and media isn't uncompressed. Most modern music is massively compressed so you can stream it. The thing is. You probably have shifty speakers or a headset, you wouldn't even notice. They don't uncompress it you dingus. They are just spergs and want that flac tier quality for literally no reason.

The price of storage doesn't change the # of GB

Games are bloated because it creates a sunk cost fallacy so you are less likely to uninstall it and continue playing.

I don't get it. Are you guys fucking poor? Just buy more storage. Or just download it when you want to play. OR stop playing shitty fucking games.

Less likely to install other games and spend money on those other games, too.

>black ops remake to be revealed today
>$70 for base game, please understand
>200 GB at launch with 50 GB day one patch
When is an indie dev going to step up and make a 5 GB cod clone?

>truth
You're joking right? I hate that I can't tell.

Call of duty has no business being anywhere over 20 GB in size, not supporting this shit.

There was one developer that straight up admitted to it in an interview and I really wish I could remember who it was. It started happening because console games have to be installed now.

>They're basically jpgs
you don't want to use jpg textures, ever.
