>Is the best multiplayer game ever created
>Never got a chance to shine because of nonexistant marketing, close-minded boomers and devs who refuse or are unable to fix it's technical problems
What a shame. Is there any hope for QC getting the playerbase and appreciation it deserves? Will Bethesda ever start to market it, or do they want it to fail?
Is the best multiplayer game ever created
I want to start playing it user. How accessible is it for non veterans? How’s the learning curve?
I gotta say, it's very doable. It's a bit harder than most games but it's not like Quake live where it's 90% hardened veterans playing who will delete you on sight. I'm actually pretty good at it right now and it's pretty much my first multiplayer Quake (aside from a little bit of getting dabbed on in Quake Live).
Lack of marketing wasn't the issue but the fact that all the marketing happened when the game was unbalanced and broken.
If Quake Champions was in it's current state back in 2017/2018 it'd have been a success.
You have to be willing to spend some brain juice on learning the game. Once you know the weapons, maps and item placements you're gonna be fine in public matches.
It's no harder to learn than any other game.
I liked that comic
This game needs two things:
>all Q3 maps
>the BFG
I'm surprised they got lore pieces on the elder gods in the game now
>overdesigned trash is dead
Shocker
Pro-league new season was announced, so the game won't be axed at least for a year. After that, who knows.
is it possible to port it to an id engine?
There's a comic about Quake Champions? What would it even be about? Fragging?
>Fragging?
Yes.
I'm not opposed to classes in Quake. However, this game has multiple character abilities that make me never want to touch it. Sorlag and Death Knight have a free damage ability, Nyx has fucking invisibility/invincibility get out of jail free card and Visor has a wall hack. This is not the natural progression Quake should have taken. What should have happened is that every character should be movement focused with unique skills that compliment traversing the map, Slash and Athena come to mind. It's not a terrible game but there is little reason to play it over Quake Live.
A lot of it were just origin stories of each champion and how they ended in the Arena Eternal
How did they explain Doomguy being there? Is Quake Champions canon or set in the future?
>How did they explain Doomguy being there? Is Quake Champions canon or set in the future?
they didnt
They only shown Ranger Scale Nyx Visor Anarki and Slash i think
QC is before QL because Slash doesn't have implants yet.
QC is fucking horrible don't even try
What about Anarki's implants going backwards?
Explain?
Here's your lore
QC Anarki has a torso and one arm left, Q3A Anarki is flesh from the waist up with only his legs gone (and a gory visor like Slash has).
They didn't market it because: boomers already know what it is and zoomers are trash at games so theyll pass over it when they get steam rolled game one.
When will they learn that nobody plays arena shooters?
Check youtube videos for circle strafing tutorials and weapon mapping so you can do one-two punch weapon combos (similar to Doom:Eternal). Then its all about learning the maps, ironically while good reflexes and aim are very important, you can still do very well if you master proper movement and map control.
So why arent you playing Quake Live? The game is dead.
This, hamfisted and uninspired abilities have no place in quake. Trying to be overwatch is what killed quakeC, not lack of marketing.
>tfw can't bridge2rail
I started learning duel a week ago and Quake Live is obviously better. Literally just find one or two dueling partners and check player's ELOs before fighting strangers and you'll have a great experience, especially if you're willing to play CA and FFA when duels are scarce.
Ultimately we'll all end up Diabotical players in the end. Regrettably.
Again, why arent you playing Quake Live?
>Diabotical
>Is the best multiplayer game ever created
>Heroshit
Lmaoing@urlife
I said it's regrettable. Quake Live needs to be free to play and it needs matchmaking for duels. It'll lose to egg game despite being obviously superior.
>play Contra on Sega at home
>go to cyber cafe and play Doom
>rent a PlayStation and play splitscreen quake 2 with bros
>build a computer to play quake 3
>play quake 3 at he to practice rail and jumping so I can style on noobs at computer laboratory in school
>go to cyber cafe to style on noobs in quale 3
>download demos to watch and configs to see what meta is developing
>work part time to pay for 128Kbit/s ISDN so I can play online
>got more hours in Quake 3 than in school
>playing Russian meta and style on small time local tournaments by raping everyone on ztn and tourney4
>play quake 4 on stolen radeon 9600 pro
>can't get Visa to go put of country
>get first cable internet in town to play quakelive
>2020 some faggot on a Manchurian imageboard thinks his smart and knows shit about you
Does someone have the webm comparing Overwatch and Champions?
> close-minded boomers
kys shill
the marketing was also NOT non-existent. they marketed it very hard when it was in pre-alpha for some reason. so a million people tried out a broken mess and rightfully rejected it in 2017/18. then they sorta duct-taped the worst parts of the mess after two years (early 2019) and after that, if you have a SSD and 16 GB of fast RAM and a good CPU and at least a 1000 series nvidia card or 400 series AMD you can actually fucking play the game nowadays. if you lack any of these components enjoy your half a second spikes in frametime that can happen at any time and make you lose fights. I've installed the game on three different computers and it runs well on just one of them, the one that checks all the criteria listed above.
>Will Bethesda ever start to market it, or do they want it to fail?
they're spending a lot of money on the astroturfed "quake pro league". meanwhile it pulls in viewer numbers not much better (if at all) than the old ZLive streams used to be - a 3-4 man effort done essentially for free by and for the community with one rich Russian guy bankrolling tournaments every sunday in Quake Live. the level of authentic community engagement has plummeted. basically everyone notable playing the game at this point on streams and participating in tournaments is doing so with a profit motive. the only reason I'm not completely disgusted by it is that they partially fixed the duel format and rapha can win again, proving that the game isn't a fucking slot machine any more.
Diabotical's graphics engine is designed from the ground up to be completely outdated. there's no marketability for the game until Timmy Tencent sends over a few graphics programmers who can add 21st century lighting / shading. Yames' decision to employ one single programmer to build the entire engine and game solo never seizes to baffle. it's like he set himself up to have an excuse for not finishing as long as possible.
there's nothing to compare except the characters and their abilities. but that wouldn't make much sense since the gameplay is completely different so the same kind of weapon or movement mechanic has totally different implications. Overwatch doesn't even have weapons as pickups on the map, does it?
Kek
how can you tolerate this trash fucking game?
yeah because all the good players quit this piece of filthy garbage years ago when the $1 million dried up
