Ao Oni is good, and the Ao Oni creature is simple and effective. This uncanny, distorted face. The game makes no great bones to establish what it is, and encounters are swift enough that your imagination does all the work i.e. "what if this weird, uncanny thing was really chasing me? What would it do?" And it's only in the ending of one of the versions that it's revealed it eats you, which is pretty horrifying. But if we were shown throughout the whole game that it ate you, that would lose its luster VERY fast. It's a good game, a good monster.
