Is the 2D platformer dead now that Nintendo has created one that cannot conceivably be topped?

It's on switch now? This better not be bullshit. I have to get a copy if so.
it's also on cemu
For a couple years. Where have you been?
Got to world 4 and so far this game is very fun. First game I've played in the series, are the others worth trying out too?
Not if they just let Retro make a third one. Would be a great time to bring back the Kremlings.
maybe jail or something, I don't know.
Such a boring game. I have no idea why people like these DK games so much
The originals are great but you need more of a tolerance for the controls. They feel bad at first but you can get used to them. Returns and Tropical Freeze are pretty different from the original trilogy but are the best example of what a modern 2D platformer should be.
DK games feel like any other Nintendo platformer. I really don’t get the hype for them on the internet
I'm sure it's no bonga blast bullshit, the konga game that was a platformer (Best donkey kong game ever made, debate me)
I honestly forgot any DK games between DKC3 and DKCR existed.
you depraved, lugubrious, recluse, come see the sun once more.
D
It can be topped but that game is proof we're settling for a trash timeline of games in comparison to what could be. Developers have been shit.
Fuck off, 64 and Jungle Beat are great
Celeste was better
Is this game worth picking up?
I didn't really like the Rare DKC games, the last DK game I played was with the Bongos.
But this looks fun.
I still have my 64 cart and I can't imagine myself ever playing it again, was too long and tedious. I got pretty far as a kid but never beat it. At least I got an Expansion Pak with it so I could play MM and Perfect Dark, much better games.
Jungle Beat I bought with the bongos a few years ago with intent to resale unless I liked it. Played it for about an hour and then sold it on eBay.
It's been in a bad way until Retro took over, in my opinion. Even Rare was losing their touch with 64.
I beat this with my housemate and we can't find a game like it for co-op. Already tried Mario, Rayman and Cuphead, is Yoshi or Kirby on switch worth it?
Less playing and more fucking user.
If fucking ian't available for whatever reason, try Cuphead.
Yes. DK feels really good to control, it's got creative level design, a good difficulty level and amazing music.
64 is dogshit. Jungle Beat is alright though.
Jungle Beat is indeed the best DK game. Fucking 10/10 video game.
tinertia is way better. it dared to do something fresh with the genre and makes you be good at it unlike tropical freeze, which was just a map pack of returns and gives you so much shit to cheese and brute force through even if you're mentally retarded.
the switch version is a fucking scam. just emulate it.
>I didn't really like the Rare DKC games
Why?
Level design and enemy placement was really bad, DK feels really good to control, he feels big and imposing but gets one shotted by everything. I think if there was a fluid attack that worked better in motion than the roll or more movement options I'd enjoy it a lot more.
Not just your run-of-the-mill complaints. Fair enough.
41% better
DKC2 > DKC1 >>> DKC3 >>>> DKCTF > DKCR >>> DK64
Only zoomers disagree.
false flagging faggot
I’d rather something new
So that's where the funky edition meme came from!?
>Level design and enemy placement was really bad
Nope, real shit.
