Why do we defend this garbage Zig Forums?
tl;dr because it's rewarding.
I can't
That's why I played on servers where it was .05% drop instead
zoomers only know immediate gratification
the hunt is the true drop
I cant even fathom how it was in official servers. I struggle in some 3x or 5x exp rate servers and it took so much time to bring that 95 plus levels to 99.
Dying at level 98 was the equivalent of getting kicked in the sack
Rarity is a good thing. You're either super lucky or super autistic if you get one
it hurts bros
why can't we go back?
because the true RO was the friends we made along the way
poring is my only friend
0.1% drop rate? on my server it was 0.002% dude.....
That impossible.
In oficial servers it was 0.01% for the majority of cards (except poring cards and the like)
FUCK REKENBER
a lot of people didn't know any better. it was some of my cousin's first mmo for example.
you had to form parties and fulfill quests
>why can't we go back?
The same way you can't live in the past by adding old furniture and technology to your house, you also can't play old games like you played for the first time.
does this game have a story quest or whatever you call them.?
sometimes you start to farm something with an extremely low drop rate and can't bring yourself to stop
Low drop rates are important in online games if you want players to bother trading.
Look at WoW where most rare drops can't be traded; The only thing anyone is selling are carries of raids and dungeons.
Granted the RO shops are not all that interactive, they were still fun and engaging enough to keep me subscribed and keep the game running overnight.
We don’t. And FYI this trashy drop rate is the source of GM corruption in many third world shithole where they would simply hack item to sell them in RMT or give them to their own guilds though I doubt IRO is as clean as they claimed to be either.
They only started bringing in story quests about 5 years ago.
>people are corrupt so low drop rates are bad
Pablo go home
It was fun. Now, I couldn't be assed. I also botted back then for this very reason.
Yes it is. When designing a game for human to interact with each other it’s always critical to factor in human nature, and human nature is to corrupt and abuse. That’s why WoW was so successful, because it leaves the window to corrupt as small as possible.
>.05% drop instead
I couldn't deal. I was a casual and it was .3% on mine.
POST TIMES WHEN YOU EXPLOITED YOUR PRIVATE SERVER
>was on a private server that implemented a geffen cave filled with those chinese looking ghost fuckers.
>they had like a 5-10% chance of dropping purple boxes and card books
>card economy fucked beyond believe
>the GMs knew about it and didn't do anything for a while
>I was in a guild with the main GM and he had a secret guild hideout he coded himself. But this is because I was in his guild and then he took over the server as the main GM and coder.
TAKE ME BACK
In hindsight that's probably for the best.
In the amount of time I spent searching for one card on balls to the wall low rate servers I probably could have beaten a couple of games or learned a cool skill.
All for a card that would eventually be lost to the void because Ragnarok servers barely last unless they're the pay2win shit like Talon.
It was a 50/50/30 and Izlude was a PVP town.
I would just port in on my fashionable whitesmith and talk with friend while people would port in and randomly pk people. You'd lose gold/exp but you didn't go in without expecting to do but you also couldn't go in, randomly pk someone, and not expect a gangbang/manhunt.
I can't believe I miss EDP Sinx's.
>servers small enough to have a comprehensive guild-wide KoS list.
>zoomers can't tell you what KoS means
kill on sight i dont think theres anything to it
What game?
Is being a good drawfag an exploit?
I made an ass ton of zeny off of people wanting to get their character drawn.
Literally never had to grind once on my past server, I'd just make 10-20 mil off of a couple hour long drawing of someone's character.
Couples, town idler girls, and narcissistic GMs would gladly open their wallet for that stuff. Not to mention my server would hold art contests a lot and the GMs played favoritism towards me it seemed.
Please someone tell me what game you're all talking about, it sounds fun and I want to play too :(
It is ragnarok online friend
Filters out the casuals.
Thank you fren
