I remember playing Mega Collection a lot more than Gems. Gems had cool stuff on it, just not the staying power.

For me is Sonic Jam. 3D world was neat, all the extras and classic Sonic with lock-on features without bullshit like Megacollection. Sonic 1 also had spindash option which was great for a different type of playthrough. And the Normal, Original, Easy modes, easy was hilarious how it skipped acts.

To be fair at the time it was the best way to play Fighters, or even Sonic R. CD port was meh as hell, especiallly if you are european because europe always had JPN/Pal tracks and for some stupid reason Gems had US.

I would have enjoyed Gems a lot more if I didn't have one of the older Action Replays that I needed to manually input codes for. It was almost a straight upgrade to Mega Collection with cheats because you could disable the demo timer on all of the roms.

I fucking loved the museum in this game.
The final boss demos were cool as hell. I had a lot of fun unlocking everything.
