I always think its funny that OoT Zelda would never face any comeuppance or even know how badly she fucked up with her dumbass decision to send the Hero of Time back and ruin his life so goddamn hard he turned into a ghoul but at least it allowed for a super qt to take his place

OoT Link is primarily interesting because the fact that part of the reason for his existence in purgatory being his regret that he wouldn't be recognized for the shit he went through, and as a kid no less, means there's a bit of nuance (self interest) to his character that goes beyond the usual two dimensional "hes the chosen one and hes good and hes super good because hes the good guy end of story". It doesnt have to be a flaw that calls into question whether hes a good person, because he is, to make him interesting

Fallen Hero is neat too because the fact that Link can actually fail, and at one point has leading to shit getting all kinds of fucked up, makes things a lot heavier. I wish they'd explore this branch a bit more. All three branches are neat when you think about it for one reason or another.

Oh and I also like Link of the wild a lot.

I like TP Link. Dude wrestles goats and Gorons and has a bunch of slick moves including a victory pose. He's basically Dante in Link form.

It's worse than that. Her decision made it so that Hyrule had no hero when Ganon broke free again, which either meant she fucked up so hard the Spirit of the Hero stopped incarnating, or the Sages were so lame that they could only keep Ganon sealed a few years at max before a new hero incarnated. So she's a failure on two fronts. I guess three if you count fallen hero.

I agree. That sort of personality other than "I am paragon I am good" is why I like BotW Link, too. His character pre-Calamity is literally him trying to play up the whole paragon hero thing by forcing himself to stay silent and do his job, so when he loses all of his memories, what happens? You get a character that while he still has a sense of justice and courage, can be incredibly snarky, isn't afraid to seduce and lead on a random guy just because he wants both pairs of his neat shoes, might be a latent pyromaniac (not even joking since one of your first dialogue choices can be a statement that you're going to use a torch to set fire to random objects), etc. BotW Link has tons of personality and I will never not be mad about the Adventure Log shit being changed in localization.
