How do we save Quake Champions?

I just played it this weekend for the free set of champions and holy shit is everyone bad at this game? I never played arena shooters growing up but I topped the leader boards twice in both of my pub matches. I thought I was fighting bots, so I asked in-game chat and they told me to die.

There's no lootboxes as far as I know, but there's battlepasses to unlock stuff during "seasons" and you get currency to buy unlockable cosmetics which is something I actually like. I do agree with the classes though

>Finish QOL (like being able to see your skins on your character in the menu)
>adjust platinum and shard pricing overall
>remove the longest yard
>continue adding new movement based mechanics for new champions
>neglect overly explosive and in your face active abilities in favour of more tactical and informative ones for new champions
>DEDICATED SERVERS

Most of these will help but the last point will guarantee that QC lives forever, if only in the hearts and servers of diehard QC fanboys.

Kind of funny considering Quake Live is dead now which was the best way to play the game for the longest time. I blame them for putting a price tag on it after it was free for so long though. That killed the playerbase.

The game is fine, it just isn't 1999 anymore and Quake and Arena Shooters aren't as big a deal as they used to be. Its still the only one worth playing, Tribes and Unreal are dead and Egg Game isn't even worth mentioning. All they need to do is get back to actually marketing the game and maybe re-release the game/Make QC 2.0 on id Tech 7 to banish all the Saber jank

Everything connects to a central server. Even if you are playing with only bots vs you, and even if you load into a private match completely by yourself.

I've had 0 issues getting that. In fact, I've had no server issues at all. The only real problem is that everyone plays like 2 different game modes and that's it.

My implication is that most of the playerbase wasn't interested enough in paying money for it and just played it for free because it was easy to just pull up on your browser and start a match without needing a good computer. I know personally, I didn't buy it simply out of annoyance at the fact that something that once was free had a pricetag on it and I knew the playerbase wouldn't come back. Well guess what happened?
