I just can't win
FTL
There is nothing wrong with playing on easy, with the advanced options enabled. You will have more room for errors and will probably get a better understanding of how to spend scrap more efficiently. I could give you a hint on where it probably lacked, if you made a screenshot of your ship, since you can't tell a lot from the scoreboard.
What, are they all on the capital ship? Because it's basically a check if you have the right combo by the time you get to it.
It's not a ship problem, it's enemy having 2-3 ion weapons and drones shitting on me while my shields are disabled problem. I relied on 4 shields and high evasion + cloaking, that fight basically was determined by who had more luck evading ion weapons.
This one isn't, the other 2 on sector 8 are.
This game is fun, but filled with bullshit.
I haven't played it in a long while, was it the Flak 2 that was just better than anything else?
>4 shields and high evasion + cloaking
That should more than enough defense to get past the flagship if you use cloaking(lvl2) smartly to dodge incoming fire. I guess it lacked in offense then, since finding a way to disarm really dangerous ships is crucial to avoid getting in desperate situations. 27 ships defeated is more in the lower spectrum and to win on normal you kind of have to check as many beacons as possible to up your scrap gain as much as you can.
As I've said, if you are frustrated, I recommend playing on easy with the advanced options, since it's still hard and will allow for a more pleasant experience to play and learn.
Flak2 is pretty slow expensive in terms of power, but can be great if you have something to support it. Flak1 and Burst Laser2 were the strongest in terms of power to damage ratio, if I remember correct and it's always nice to find one, but there are a lot of potential builds that can get you through the game. Having too many styles can often lead to inefficiency, like mixing drones and weapon offensive often lacks as soon as you get to ships with three or more shields. Same goes for lasers, as they seem pretty good, but you kind of need to build around them or have them as support, since they are useless with enemy shields up.
>Same goes for beam weapons
is what I meant, still mix laser and beam weapons up
used to play this game a lot a couple years back and i loved all the stupid build that you could try, like defeating the flagship on normal with only a fire bomb as a weapon.
i bought it on steam and i see that some things have changed, like the extra options you have to unlock every ship instead of only some RNG bullshit that you could never find for some rare ships.
say, to quickly unlock all ships, wins on easy still count, right?
Yeah, you can unlock ships usually by getting two of the challenges or defeating the flagship. Unlocked most ships on easy, since it takes a bit to get used to the different layouts and their advantages/disadvantages.
Use the b form of the kestrel
Use cloak and hacking
If you get the vulcan cannon you have already won (at full rev it fires a laser faster than your opponents shield regenerates)
Also play easy til you can beat easy
YER A BUM ROCKY
Of you want to enjoy it, install the remove chasing fleet mod.
It changes the game and give it a more star treck kind of vibe were you fly around assisting and fighting pirates instead of running away and feel powerless
Become better.
Guess the FTL must mean Forced To Lose!
Unironically use the FTL wiki for the random events. You need to know what choices are good and which ones are bad.
>easy mode, mods to make it easier, wiki
I refuse
Get the mantis ship type B
You cant go wrong with boarding ships
You can, but that's what cloning bays are for.
ehhhhhhh, easy modo?
Yes
well I cant say anything to that
have fun your way
I've always hated how RNG and how long it takes to unlock new ships.
By the time you can figure out a way to consistently win, and good luck, you'll still be using the Kestral A.
At least if you somehow get the Kestral B, game becomes more fun because Kestral B is very fun, but not as fun as Mantis B or Slug A.
O fug
What do we think about Into The Breach?
how THE FUCK are you supposed to win as Engi B
It's pretty good
Time for a new run
It's good. Very tight, solid game.
It does not have the staying power of FTL.
Is that from a mod?
Nevermind
No
A couple of options that may help:
1. Prioritize beam weapons coupled with blasters. Beam weapons are instantaneous and, if timed right, devastating.
2. If you can kill a ship's crew without destroying the ship itself, you get a boosted amount of scrap. Consider boarding parties or fire weapons. (WARNING: the final boss can NOT be defeated with either, only crippled. If you're setup to support boarding parties, swap your setup before you get there (but do NOT give up your teleporter, as it is integral for disabling the flagship's weapons.))
How can you have trouble winning even on the normal mode? It took me like 3 tries when I first got the game.
At least if it was Hard mode you'd have an excuse.
As another user said, it doesn't have the staying power of FTL but I think I enjoyed my time with ITB more. ITB just needed that little something extra to bump up the replayability. FTL has the better soundtrack though.
Burst Laser 2 is the best weapon.
It's the event in the rebel stronghold sector, similar to the quests in the homeworld sectors. It's a phase 3 flagship miniboss if you will.
