Curse fire is lame and makes playing fire mage no fun.

Filter. The game is easier at the start so you can learn the combat system and because you are lacking in abilities to make use of the combat system. If you haven't learned the combat system by that point, it's on you. If you have learned the combat system, the game is otherwise very straightforward.
Either split your focus between physically weak and magically weak enemies or focus your entire team on one damage type. The game really isn't that difficult and it's more about making and experimenting with different builds.

Game is even easy if you don't steal.
I RPed heavily and didn't steal anything. Still had zero issues playing hard mode.
Even on a new file, act 1 was a joke. It was painful my first time through, until I learned how stupid the armor system was.

Act 4 is hard if you don't break the game.

What difficulty spike? The game is piss easy if you're not a complete retard. Even barely optimized wacky builds become too powerful for tactician by mid Act 2 when you get at least 2 source points. And fully thought-out optimized from lvl1 builds require increased difficulty mods to be interesting.
And that's not counting the fact that you can completely rebuild your characters for fucking free at the ship.

Did you just ignore that part? You can make a viable party that isn't specced into just one damage type, you just need to be capable of building them properly.

Lone wolf is too op if you're 2-manning it. Solo it's much more balanced, but you miss out on companion quests.

Do people actually play base Div anymore? It gets ridiculously easy once you figure out the core mechanics. At least get Epic Encounters or something so the difficulty progression is actually constantly challenging.
