Because the world is a fuck
It would be cool playing the role of modern special forces hunting down suspected cults with unexplained phenomena, or Vietnam macvsog patrols secretly exploring strange rumors etc. Definitely lots of potential
Good question.
I had an idea for one, though.
>Play as an operator
>Some cult has been going around doing bad cult things
>You and your buddies are sent in to stop that
>SURPRISE, the cultists are a fucking militia and quickly kill off your buddies, then toss you down a pit.
>Your radio is broken and you’re stuck behind enemy lines.
Now, the big twist here is this: Our MC starts killing through hordes of the cultists and their creations with extreme prejudice.
Basically, take the NuDoom concept of “The demons fear you” and push it to truly horrifying levels.
>As our MC makes his way through the horror of the cult, they grow increasingly panicked as to how he’s killing everything they send at him.
>Our protagonist grows increasingly psychotic and more determined to wipe the cult out with everything they do. And not in a cool way. He starts going into a legitimately unsettling murderous fury
>Manhunt tier executions.
>Play up the implacable aspects of the MC
The cult still does horrifying shit to people. They deserve this, but making you feel uncomfortable with our protagonists rampage is the main focus
Well there is Delta Green
That kinda sounds like Spec Ops The Line expect with a less pretentious story.
I wish the saved the artwork, it looks like an in-game screenshot of a FPS horror game set in the 90s. It was very similar to the first Resident Evil game but as a FPS. You're a police squad investigating an old, run-down looking house that has grotesque looking monsters. It looks cool as fuck but it's not real unfortunately, but it's a cool concept though. It's been posted around here before in RE/Horror threads. If anyone knows what I'm talking about.
You mean this?
you post this whenever there is a thread like this, you should start working on that.
Tactics and horror don't go hand in hand is why.
In order to apply tactics you have to understand what is going on and that removes a level of fear because you have some idea of what to expect.
There is also the inherent disconnect that vidya has, no matter how terrifying the situation on screen is it won't be that same as actually being there so basic shit like self preservation is muted.
Yup!
I am stealing some of these ideas.
Also this,
fund it, i'd play the shit out of that
Just suck at x-com and every mission becomes this.
Fucking chryssalid shits.
you might enjoy GTFO

I always found that picture with the Astronaut and the farmers interesting. Crashlanding on some planet that still lives in the middle ages and having to find a way out seems like a cool concept for a horror movie or game.
You now remember The Hidden: Source
You now remember Paranoia
playing a game as a rural cop (or more likely Sheriff/Deputy) and getting into a horror mess would be so much goddamn fun.
Hidden: source is my jam
Used to play lans with the boys like 10 years ago.
>MP7
do you know how hard it is to buy those fucking things? They're fucking unobtanium. I've wanted one ever since I got to drain a few magazines at a range day.
Isn't RE2R technically a tactical shooter?
basically resident evil
Not OP, but GTFO is fun I just wish my friends weren't casuals who can't go more than a few rooms at a time without alerting everything and using all of their ammo.
>The Hidden
Fuck that game was the best for LAN center play. Too much fun to pounce around and make audio taunts.
>play a Sheriff to a rural community
>come across a haunting that is killing your people
>have to deputize/recruit your deputies to follow you into hell itself
great idea user I'd like to fund it
but first tell me about the strong independent female lead? don't have one? ok, how about the lgbt representation? no? well damnit user, do you at least have some sort of minority as the lead? did you at least make the leader of the cult a white male klan member? look, just throw in a cute pupper fluffy wuffy doggo and then we'll talk.
you're never gonna make it kid, don't call us we'll call you. wouldn't hold my breath though.
I think OP means a coop survival horror game. Something like Swat 4 but paranormal
Stuff like this I assume
No amount of elite operators can defeat the supernatural
I think it says a lot that people are still craving that old-school survival horror feel despite the recent remakes. People still want quality Silent Hill. Just a shame that the indie stuff I see on GOG doesn't get much attention, even if it's obviously not as good.
Doctor who wearing a ketchup costume?
2 spooky 5 me
I really enjoyed fear 1 on extreme
Yeah but other than being third person RE2R does seem a lot like swat.
That would be amazing. I loved the mission with the one crazy fucker in his mom's house with a bunch of creepy shit.
> copy that for tutorial/1st level, guy is spouting creepy shit but otherwise everything is normal
> start building creep factor with cults doing bad shit and madness slowly simmering in the city
> keep police procedures paramount, even with crazier stuff starting to happen
> lovecraft stuff introduced, DA says cops can go full retard on them since they're not humans
> keep detaining cultists for info, keep focus on realistic weapons and tools, but with cool interactions with paranormal stuff (heartbeat sensors going crazy when pointed at slime monsters, your sniper overwatch looked at the wrong thing on the wall and lost his mind, etc.)
> culminate in the entire city losing it's mind and rioting and a final deployment to the hidden temple to end everything
Too good to exist
seconding
There was supposed to be a zombie game with SWAT 4's engine but it got cancelled
>Treyarch never made a standalone nazi zombies game
>now COD zombies focus on finding trash from the ground to make a puzzle then do a bullshit move to unlock a short movie
How much are they? I couldn't find a price on Google.
You're wrong.
Well.
The cult leader is a young girl
The goddess they worship is an amazonian who pulls an Alma on the protagonist at the end
>Cult
That shit has gotten boring. Personally I perfer the idea that terrorists got a hold of some supernatural artifact and you have to stop them from using it.
hideous destructor + every add on for it + darkdoomz + some horror wads like midwich elementary
the tag price on 'em is 1800-2000 usd if I remember correctly, i'd wage heavily that if you were ever able to find one it'd be a shitload more than that.
that being said you won't, because H&K keeps these things extremely close.
