Is this the best or worst boss From has ever created

I played Sekiro twice and never defeated him.
I just don't have the patience to chain 60 to 70 parries.

mechanic: yes
lore: no, i think the best lore bosses is artorias, sif, and manus

Lol I suck ass and I managed to beat him i swear you scrubs phyc yourselves out

It's the best final boss they've done. Not in terms of story or music, but difficulty and fun

if you can beat genichiro and owl you can beat this guy, you're in your head thinking it's a super impossible megaultra boss or something or you are gimping yourself using prosthetics

Here’s some advice: know when to disengage, and keep at a distance. His long range options are his easiest to counter

This is the most mechanically refined final boss ever created currently

So true. I had a few friends that gave up on him as well and I beat him in one day, other bosses (owl 2) took me like a whole week to beat. I really do think it’s a mental handicap more than anything.

I didn't defeat flashback Owl either.
Shame because the game is very fun but the posture system ruins it.

best, I hope the next game will be a console exclusive so shitters like wont have a way to cheat their way into seeing the credits

Hesitation is defeat

No, that would be Bed of Chaos, Ancient Dragon or Midir

Neither, the best is Owl Father and worst is Bed of Chaos

Posture is how you win though, if you hate posture not sure if you're playing it right

HOW MY BLOOD BOILS

easier if you don't block or parry desu

It is interesting to compare it to Oni of Resentment (怨嗟の鬼) or Demon of Hatred because Oni is tremendously frustrating, there is no "enjoyment" in fighting it. It is in constant tension that this huge creature that moves from one side of the map to the other burns and crushes you and you are running away and evading it every time you finish attacking it.

Isshin on the other hand starts off as an equally frustrating experience because of its tremendous speed of attack but once you die again and again it is not something you fear, fighting it becomes fun. Every block, every Mikiri is a rewarding experience and your movements seek to flow against Isshin in sync rather than seeking to get away, survive and attack like when you fight the sculptor.

Oh no, I'm playing it right:
>Parry or mikiri counter as needed
>Attack to keep the enemy's posture bar from filling up
I just don't like the concept of the entire combat and your damage output being centered around waiting for enemy attacks and reacting to enemy animations. If Elden Ring uses the same posture system I won't bother with it at all.

Dishonorable, a true samurai would not resort to such tactics.

Posture I think is a great way to forge engagement with the enemy over running away, makes combat very satisfying. But I doubt they'll have it in Elden Ring it'll be a return to RPG souls

Phase 3 with no lightning and he would be one of the best bosses in gaming period. The lightning is such a bitch because it trivializes the entire phase. You can just reversal and destroy the final phase in like 3 reversals

>or you are gimping yourself using prosthetics

I found using aerial spear and shuriken are amazing at keeping his posture from recovering if you ever need to jump out and reposition, especially when he starts running away during his 2nd/3rd phase to use his gunjutsu

It was the exact opposite from me: being forced to just wait for certain attack animations so you can inflict damage (that can be regenerated if the enemy happens to use an attack you can't time well or outright can't parry) made Sekiro the most frustrating action game I've played.

Fucking HYPE

>chain 60 to 70 parries
You have played the game twice and you still haven't realized how important it is to be aggressive in sekiro?

Why are you waiting and not forcing them to block?

>implying that only pc cheat
yeah right

Game is very forgiving in that regard and I like it. Both Genichiro and Isshin can be very intimidating with 2+ phases but in reality the last phase is really not that hard.

but the posture system is the cornerstone of the combat
it makes the game fantastic

With current technology and game development The Sword Saint is the perfect boss, whether it will be surpassed in years to come is not known, but likely
At the moment though he's still the perfect boss

reminder that DSP beat the best or worst boss From has ever created in three tries

How...how big was Sculptor friend? That sword is larger than Wolf.

not the worst but one of the most tedious they've created
I'd rather have 2 exciting phases rather than 4 lackluster ones
hopefully with their next game they do an evolution of their souls formula rather than a regression

By aggressive you mean "keep attacking so the enemy keeps making attacks you can parry", yes I did. It's just that at the end of the day you still have to chain 60 to 70 parries, aggressiveness or not, because attacking by itself is useless.
I always cheesed the purple and the riflespear guys because I don't have the patience to chain 25 to 30 parries, killing them by depleting their health. The sword saint is like them except he has perfect defenses and no irregular spots on his arena so I can abuse jump and recovery animations so it's either parry perfectly 70 times or drop the game.
I chose the later.

No, worst boss is that bitch Sister Friede.

Its a good boss.
The best bosses for me are the ones that manage to encapsulate more of the idea/concept the game, in a meta dialogue between the developper and the player. With this frame of mind the best bosses are :
DeS : King Allant
Dark Souls : Artorias
DS 2 : Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon
DS3 : Gael
Bloodborne : Blood-Letting Beast
Sekiro : Genichiro, because he is fundamental to understand the game.

I hated it. I'll rather deal the damage myself than playing a waiting game.

I mean make them block and eat their posture for breakfast with your R1. Isshin is only hard on his 2nd phase, the easy approach here is to keep your distance and mikiri the thrust that comes at the end of his strings. His 1st phase has plenty of openings, the 3rd is made easy with the lightning reversal.

How do people this bad at video games exist? It actually blows my mind.

Not him but I just didn't have the patience. Genichiro has no posture which makes him easy to beat, and Owl I cheesed by just chipping away at the vitality over the course of 10 minutes. And at least those two were only two phases long.
The one thing that ruins Sekiro for me is the bosses regenerating posture. And I know it's because they want you to be all up in the boss's shit, but that means 1. you have to be 100% laser focused on every single move thrown out by the boss for like 10 minutes and 2. if you fuck up a dodge and die, you're forced to watch all the damage you did, or a good portion of it, rescind to nothing while you mash the resurrect button.

Ultimately to me playing Sekiro was just a fucking chore. It's such a tedious game that I just gave up and said fuck off, I'm not playing the way you want me to, and I cheesed every boss after Genichiro by dodging and dealing vitality damage whenever there was an opening. No parries. Takes longer than parrying, but considering the amount of times I'd have died trying to parry, in the end it saved me time.

Because I feel like that's just what Sekiro wants you to do, waste your time.
It wastes your time with useless consumables, where the time it takes to eat the candy is almost as long as the candy's effect itself.
It wastes your time with a useless prosthetic upgrade tree.
It wastes your time by forcing you to fight shitty reused bosses if you want prayer beads.
It wastes your time every time you die because there's never a reason not to revive.
And worst of all, it wastes your time during boss fights. I swear there have been times where I fought the Ape, parried pretty well, got OHKO'd, and while I waited to resurrect the posture damage went back all the way down. That's when I gave up and started focusing on vitality itself.

Reminds me of pic related.

I don't know how you can call him one of the worst. Game is full of amazing boss fights, and the final one is one of the best. Sekiro is the best action game I played in a long while.

Attached: sekiro.jpg (511x192, 39.18K)

Worst. It took me maybe 20 tries to kill him and each attempt took 5-15 minutes. The fight was incredibly slow compared to the other bosses

You know attacking also lowers their posture right? You are supposed to block and attack, not just stand there like a retard.

Well it looks similar in size to somerhing Owl could wield. Then again in From games proportions < presentation

This post is the definition of get good, the phrase was made specifically for this post.

Nah. Those 2 bosses are all about aggression while the final boss is all about not overextending. They require a very different skillset

Guardian Ape and both Owl fights are better

>It wastes your time with useless consumables, where the time it takes to eat the candy is almost as long as the candy's effect itself.
>It wastes your time with a useless prosthetic upgrade tree.
>It wastes your time by forcing you to fight shitty reused bosses if you want prayer beads.
>It wastes your time every time you die because there's never a reason not to revive.
Literally all optional.
>I swear there have been times where I fought the Ape, parried pretty well, got OHKO'd
Obviously you did not.

>HOW MY BLOOD BOILS
IKUZO, SEKIROOOOOOOOOOO

Manus is pretty cool. I remember threads crying about the AoE the first time.

The fight itself is okay but in terms of wow factor it doesn't come anywhere close to the more iconic Souls bosses like Sif or Ornstein & Smough.

I liked it, but I wish the music was better. The battle is hard to totally immerse yourself in when the music is just a generic action sequence composition. Total letdown compared to other final boss music by From.

Truly one of the best fights ever. Absolute kino throughout even in his death isshin is amazing. The only one that comes close IMO is gael even though he is much easier

I don't know how optional prayer beads are in Sekiro. That's like saying levelling is optional in Dark Souls. It is, but you're expected to level up and the game is built around you levelling up. The only difference in Dark Souls is that to level up you don't have to fight the same fat guy with a jug of wine four times.

>60 to 70 parries
>chain 25 to 30 parries
>parry perfectly 70 times
Why are you lying?

I dont understand how people can be so dogshit at games like this? are you disabled? serious question

Are you me? Those are exactly my thoughts about Sekiro except I defeated the dual ape fight too.
The only bosses I never managed to defeat were Owl 2, demon of hatred and the sword saint.

>the same fat guy with a jug of wine four times
Why is this thread full of liars? What do you retards think you get out of this?

Holy fuck this board is something else LMAO

Anyone else completed a Demonbell - Charmless run ?
They better not lock one of those new skins behind such a run, because it can get frustrating as fuck. No way on hell Im doing this again. Obviously skipped the Headless, the Skeletons and DoH.
It definitely improves your gameplay though.

>beat genichiro and owl you can beat this guy
But both those bosses are piss easy, even on first attempts

You might as well make a copypasta at this point, you spend so much time writing shitty defenses for your lack of skill.

I did the dual ape fight, I think I did every mini boss and boss except for Sword Saint, DoH, and Owl 2 although I never even attempted Owl 2 and only learned about it a good while after I dropped the game.
It's difficult to say if I did every miniboss because it's hard to remember which ones I beat and which ones I didn't mostly because you fight the same ones multiple times.

I'm the guy who never finished Sekiro and I can think of three times you fight him:
1. Regular flashback Juzo
2. True flashback Juzo
3. Monkey trainer Juzo
Probably there is a fourth but I don't remember it.

>chain parries
t.retard

best game from has ever made and has the toughest learning curve, but it gets easy once you understand the mechanics
>I just don't have the patience to chain 60 to 70 parries.
holy retard
>don't have to fight the same fat guy with a jug of wine four times.
????????

>posture system ruins it.
Posture is one of the better things about it. The most that can be said about Sekiro's combat is that kusabimaru is a ticklestick compared to what everyone else has. Even then, after Owl(father) I'm a lot more hesitant to say they should drop mid-combat deathblows in favor of letting Sekiro do good damage with his sword.

I was kind of disappointed with the fight. I left off at this fight a few days ago and last night I came home half drunk and picked it up on a whim, beat him in about ~15 attempts. Learning the 2nd phase took the longest.

>people actually have trouble with Owl 2
He is fucking easier than the normal one, how in the fuck are people this bad.
