Remaster is the same game with better textures/framerate/etc.
Remake is built from the ground up using new assets/a new engine but is more or less a 1:1 retelling of the same story.
It would be more appropriate to call FF7R a retcon or reimagining.

Completely wrong. A retcon is additional content like a sequel that ignores/changes old content, not a remake of the same content.

Starts off really well.
But then I found myself being bored in the slums.
And then the section with the faggot on the bike had my alarm bells ringing.
And then the ridiculous trek through the labs before the Air Buster fight was really pushing it.
By the time I was offered the chance to do more sidequests or head to the endgame, I was just fucking done with the game. I headed straight to Shinra HQ.
Little did I know I still had another 5-hour boss rush to endure

The music is great, but literally everything story related that was added in the Remake is entirely unnecessary and serves only to pad out the game time. For example, cut out all of the exploration of the Sector 7 Slums after the bombing mission, cut out Jessie's mission to go above the plate, cut out the extended train tunnel sequence, cut out the absolute garbage that was the underplate sun segment, and cut out all of the added material for the Sector 5 reactor and all of a sudden you have a game that flows well and contains a sense of urgency which is appropriate for a game where you're playing as a group of terrorists and not the sense of languor the Remake gives.
