You have to think in practical ways. What would you call a mechanic that grants your card some kind of advantage over specific colors? Said advantage being not being able to be blocked by or dealt damage by creatures of that color, or get targeted (which is another specific action with ruling) by said color?

indestructible means it can't be removed with "destroy" effects or from damage. -1/-1 counters and effects that drop toughness to 0 or below can still kill them.

if combat drops them to 0 because of damage, they are still alive. If a card says "target creature has 0/0 base power and toughness" it would kill an indestructible creature if there are no +1/+1 counters or card effects that are currently increasing its toughness.

Indestructible creatures can only be destroyed by two ways.
