Basically this. To paraphrase someone from a while back, the first 3 halos writing is essentially a long string of action scifi one liners pieced together into a plot, and it's great, it's best that way. Halo 3 got to be a little more weighty just because of all the buildup, but for the most part Halo trying to be this high art melodrama piece kinda just fails, with the possible exception of some parts of Reach, depending on your milage there. I'm down to get away from all the bullshit with Locke and Cortana dying and coming back and being evil and the librarian and all that garbage and just have a big klingon warrior monkey man that wants to punch Chief in the head
