FF7R is a single player game, FFXV was a single player game that kept getting constant patches to fix shit( that never ended up getting fixed anyway) , DLC (that should've been in-game) and implemented some weird live service timed content that I assume was to increase engagement.

being on one console means literally fucking nothing when ps4 in 2020 has 110m when 7r released conpared to ps4 in 2016 having 50m and xb1 in Jan 2017 had 26m so even combined the installbase 7r had was higher yet IT SOLD LESS THAN XV IN THAT SAME TIME PERIOD
XV then hit 6m in 1 month which is still higher than 7R did in the same timespan

Who cares? The OG FF7 is basically unplayable these days. It's hardly even the best FF. I can't believe I let it get talked up so much only to finally play it and realize how easy it is and how shallow the gameplay is. The characters all play the same, it's like I'm playing FF12 The Zodiac Age but without the deeper customization.
FF7R at least has enjoyable combat where all the characters play diffently and while the parts of the story that had Norura's fingerprints all over them were eyeroll-tier, the rest of the untouched story (and added story) were legitimately great.
