Is it worth the twelve dollars...

Is it worth the twelve dollars? Do I need to play the first game to understand what's going on or can I just leap into this one?

Yes and no but the first game is better if you can stomach a one-hit-kill here and there.

Play only the first game, second game is a cashgrab forced by bethesda and directed by literallywho

First one is very atmospheric but janky.

Second removes some of the jank but turns into a soulless semi open-world, crafting, evil corporation generic shit.

This user is spot on. TEW2 is one of those games where on many objective levels is superior to what came before but the end package feels less and it is hard to pinpoint why at times. My main complaint is it is considerably less grotesque in its form of horror which I dislike.

buy it, you wont regret it for that price
kinda underrated desu

First one had amazing enemy and bosses art design.

Second has zombies and human bosses, fuck that.
Also, not enough Kidman.

Is the game spooky?

Just got done playing Alien Isolation with my gf___ and need more horror in my life.

Soulless game that got eaten by the open world with sidequests and crafting formula, but it's still worth it for that price
If you can stomach the worse QoL features of part 1, it becomes a much more atmospheric and challenging game. It's more linear, the tension is more palpable, and the characters are better

Yes it is worth it.

I found the open world to actually be pretty fun to explore, and the side quests are great.

You will definitely benefit from playing the first one though, trust me. There are a few moments in the second game that will definitely not hit the same if you haven't.

I say go for both. They are good action games with an schlocky action-horror movie vibe slathered all over it.

The first one is lightyears better, just play that.

> not enough Kidman
Not enough soaking wet kidman more like.

>I found the open world to actually be pretty fun to explore, and the side quests are great
worst taste ITT

its good but the first one is better
i recommend ignoring stealth except in some sections in 2 because it trivializes the game
he designed the best chapter in the first game though

TEW 1 and 2 are both great.

It has a horror setting but it really is a action game at heart, kind of like RE4.

A lesser known title if you want a cheap but amazing romp through spook-ville may I suggest Lost in Vivo? It's a short but very well polished game, with an amazing developer. You can tell a lot of love was put into it.

Why are the firemen the scariest enemy? I was playing on hardest difficulty and shitting bricks when one spotted me

Definitely worth it, isin't as janky and doesn't have the absolute worst final area the first game has.
>enemies with guns
>water sections with one hit kill fish monsters
>boring as shit level design

Seriously I gave up at that part in the first game

Appropriate, because I fell through the world in TEW2 when I looked in a trashcan once.

Probably because they have bullshit detection and are extremely difficult to backstab.

Man, shut the fuck up. It's like saying Silent Hill 2 is soulless because you can walk around the town.

I like women with white shirts.

You have to play first one to realize it's vastly superior to 2.

People shit on it because it isn't what they wanted, but I don't think the open world segments were as bad as people make it out to be. But eh, to each their own I guess

play the first one, it's better overall

TEW1 is literally just a discount RE4 clone with worse encounter design.

No one shits on it except TEW1 retards who probably argue black bars was a good decision.

city chapters are good on nightmare but shit on standard and akumu. also, near the end of the game and you still dont have the harpoon at lvl5? enemies with guns shouldn't be threats.

First game had letterboxing as if it was a movie. TEW1 was westernized crap for david cage fans

what a brainlet take

It's a great game. Though I would play the first one before jumping into this one.

why was this thing so sexy

It's not them just being bad, they are completely pointless.

You are sent around random markers to waste your time.
Some houses were optional and actually added the Anima encounters, but most were just filler.

Also, fuck missable pouches since you couldn't backtrack to the first open area.

For twelve bucks? It's a fucking masterpiece

I forgot how terrible the plot tweeest is in TEW2.

Attached: The Evil Within 2 11_11_2017 19_29_04.jpg (1920x1080, 669.9K)

I have played Lost in Vivo actually. Shit was cash. It's a shame it was so short because I was really into it especially with all the sound design scares.

You can backtrack to the first area right until you reach the cathedral at the very end of the game. What the fuck are you talking about?

why are you so horny?

Thin body, perfect tits

Any boss design of the first alone shits on the whole art direction of the second.

Nope, Marrow gets shut down after you enter the theatre.

sure pal

There isn't a single boss in TEW1 that is as cool and well designed as the Guardian, Obscura and Anima

Attached: Guardian.jpg (1580x988, 371.76K)

It's absolutely worth it. I recommend playing the first game because it's a good one and it increases the enjoyment of 2.
It would be nice to have a nice TEW2 thread but TEW1 retards can't stop screeching that their game is better and trying to pretend TEW2 is westernized when Japan popularized hub areas in horror games to begin with.

Here come the ubisoft/skyrim fanboys praising 2's shallow design

They are all discount versions of Laura.
Fuck, some of them are literally Laura.

Obscura is the boss of the Kidamn DLC shamelessly rehashed. Pic related.

Attached: The Evil Within 16_06_2020 16_19_05.png (1920x1080, 3.68M)

It is very worth it, you'll miss some lore if you didn't play the first one but it is still very much it's own thing. Stealth can be pretty OP even if you don't upgrade it so focus on other perks first.

do you really believe this

Not only this has nothing to do with Obscura, but the DLC was directed by the same guy who did TEW2 and it was literally the best part of the first game.

Attached: 1654465484654.gif (185x233, 1.74M)

Why the fuck pay for that much when you can buy the game cheaper at places like GoG which is $10?

Gotta say I preferred TEW2. Like, really REALLY preferred. I tried to love 1 so hard, but something is way off

>female monster with sexy legs
>spotlight/camera with flash as head
>you have to sneak around then shoot his light emitting head

Dude.

The crushing difficulty?

Attached: Beacon hospital.jpg (3840x2160, 2.22M)

Fighting the Guardian was too easy. I literally ran around a fountain while shooting her until she died, just like with Nemesis in REmake 3

TEW1 having scripted on-rail fights was literally the most peak Ubisoft thing a horror game ever did.

Attached: TEW1.jpg (1280x720, 132.59K)

Rubik was far more interesting than the nigga preacher bait and switch.

Fuck, I expected Rubbik to be the mastermind behind all in TEW2, was very dissapointed when it wasn't.

>Is it worth the twelve dollars?
absolutely. both games are superb.

Rubik sucked and I like 1

RE4 legacy, I guess.
And everyone agress the city chapters are trash.

>TEW1 was westernized crap
>But the sequel made entirely by amerifats isn't

Attached: download (1).png (500x423, 298.95K)

I prefer the horror and atmosphere in TEW1 but the story and gameplay is better in the sequel.

yes it is better than the first game
don't listen to

>But the sequel made entirely by amerifats isn't
Who are you parroting this from? 95% of the staff was Japanese. The only western guy was the director and he did the Mansion level and the DLC levels of the first game, which were the BEST parts of TEW1 in the first place

Stefano>Ruvik>preacher
Mostly because Stefano had the coolest stuff in the game and because Sebastian goes ''He's literally Hitler.''

Every TEW thread, every single one.

Here come the filteredfags.

To be fair the first game is considerably more challenging than what modern games are prepared for.

Yeah, stuff like the Laura boss fight filtered a lot of people.

I skipped her and the dog cause it was an ammo dump, not worth it.
