The reason this didn't do well is because it looks and feels nothing like the original

The reason this didn't do well is because it looks and feels nothing like the original.

FF7 is peak 90's grunge and cyberpunk, with a protagonist who looks like Goku.

The remake is bog standard realistic graphics with the front man from a boy band.

I'm not saying it's bad, but everyone I know who was a fan of the original feels they botched it.

That and all the ghosts..

Cloud Strife was always cute, revisionist boomer.

I'm the revisionist? When the fuckers at SE have revised everything from the original game?

By the time this thread dies nobody will have posted a good reason for the inclusion of the time jannies, or why the story of FFVII needed alternate timelines. Or explain why going to the sewers twice is a good idea. And yet they'll still insist anyone else who complains about these things is wrong, offer no counterpoint, and insist the game is great.

See you in 500 posts, everyone.

>6 million sold
>3 years dev time
Looks like a big success to me.

>b-b-but TLoU2 and FFXV sold better!!!
10+ YEARS DEV TIME

million sold
nope

*shipped

>The reason this didn't do well is because it looks and feels nothing like the original.
I disagree. it has tons of soul of the original. Not only with the characters, but the design in general.

Gimme some more of that Wa-wah-wahoo! And we're golden saucer.

>it didn't sell well
Can we stop with this dumbass meme

Yes. This game was sterilized as fuck. It felt nothing like OG. Even the bombing mission (most faithful part of the remake) looked too clean.

Muted colors, realistic designs and a lack of detail.

Look I don't disagree that it looks great, but it's definitely not what I would first think of for an FF7 remake. Maybe if you're a fan of the extended universe stuff then I understand.

OP here, wasn't talking about sales.

Alternative timelines, no. But I can't a see a single writer returning to their old work and not wanting to make deviations. There's no such thing as a 1:1 remake.
Game's great btw.

Zig Forumsedditors can't cope with the fact that square made bank off this game and we're fast approaching part 2's release

Original Midgar was steampunk with goofy technology not this super advance combat simulator bullshit they put in this time.

>7 appealed to trends of the 90`s
>7RE appeals to modern trends
For the record, I dont play either and just masturbate to tifa.

Never watched AC or played the compilation, played the original in 2000 in my ps1, but good try.
>Muted colors, realistic designs and a lack of detail.
the muted colors meme is getting out of hand. Its like people forget that the colors in the game, specially a game like ff7 original, doesnt look like that if you translate that into real.
>lack of detail
It has tons of detail actually, i dont know what you mean. It has way more detail than the original, in fact. When it comes with the midgar section, of course.

>realistic designs
Well of course, it isnt completely anime anymore. FF7 translate well into realistic design. Other games like FFIX dotn because it is HEAVILY stylized, but FF7 and ff8 are games that translate well. Maybe stop playing persona or 3d anime stuff like xenoblade to get that off your head.

I have nothing against the game itsekf. It's just a product and the original will always be there. Just don't think it is even close to being a remake of the original. Ignoring the ghosts it feels more like a reboot with a different style and feel.

All this AND MORE coming soon to an unironic Zig Forums post near you!

Really? that's what bothers you? the fact that there's a combat simulator that gives you more things to do?

>not this super advance combat simulator bullshit
You mean like cosmo canyon 3d technology?
or gold saucer 3d games technology?
mmm....

>possibly relive the Midgar arc as if Zack is alive that could potentially change how the characters interact and how the events in Midgar could flow
>could explore and explain why is there a Time guardian in the old game that was just there in the first place
>creating a remake that can co-exist with the original game instead of replacing it

Zig Forums will never not be seething over 7r being good/doing well
It's the gift that keeps on giving

FF7R is great
Ghosts are the cries of the planet
The remake is not for people who don't consider compilation canon
If you don't enjoy it, play original FF7

Wasn't meant to be a "gotcha" there. Just that I would understand if you liked the extended stuff because they're very similar to remake.

And you're missing my point, FF7 was never realistic originally, so the excessive colors and grunge was part of its style and charm. Making the game realistic forced them to cut out a lot of what made FF7 so appealing.

And as for lack of detail, a better way of putting it is that everything looks way too clean, especially in battle areas where the strets are made huge to allow for battles.

Also I have never played a Persona game or xenoblade. I think the closest i've played would be Breath of the Wild. But good try.

Barry doesn't exis-

All of those will be in the game you stupid faggot screencap this

Yeah exactly, just look at the cars. It's a world expanding into cyberpunk, they're not blade runner yet.

Yeah, looking back, I kinda miss those rusty Reactors. And I don't know what, but I feel something is missing in the slums. But I really liked it during the night. Maybe the street lights and lights from houses and shops, evoke a sense of dread. I like the Shinra HQ in the remake more than the old one.

And still nobody can answer it

Thanks bud, cya there.
