Too much -ism autism

It's unbalanced and too confusing on first glance. The -ism styles are as much it's strength as it's downfall.

Alpha 2 was better

Love the sprites from that series but yeah custom combos really killed 3

I love Alpha 3
The different Ism's are cool, but V-ism breaks the game entirely with infinite combos

It's too close to an anime fighter with insane blockstrings and TOD combos

V-ism and crouch canceling absolutely breaks the game.

Alpha 2 = best Alpha

Not that many people remember it.
I would wager Third Strike hasn't been played by half the people who reference it because all they know of it is 37.

>seizures on every counterhit
>X-ism absolutely useless
>A-ism barely usable
>V-ism lets ryu or akuma touch you once and you're dead
Why would anyone play this when you had Alpha 2 and 3S around at the same time

Alpha 3 is my favorite Street Fighter for single player content, but it's utterly broken.
Alpha 2 is my favorite ever. Third Strike is good but I hate the roster.

Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Akuma are all present so what's the problem? Those four are all SF needs to be good.

I like it a lot but it has a lot of mechanics that just feel awkward in a street fighter game (air recoveries), the exploits that allow you to do infinites with V-ism just take out all the fun out of the game and make almost every other ism useless and (might be just me) there is something really unsatisfying with how hitboxes/hurtboxes are handled and damage feels very low in general.
Not a bad game by any means but its unique quirks end up hurting it in the long run.
ST is an undeniable classic and 3s is weird but get better and better if you accept that it's meant to be approached differently so it eventually gained its following despite its lackluster start.

Not the same user but I love 3s, even then a lot of the characters like Elena, Sean and Twelve feel pretty half baked or poorly thought out.

Don't forget Guile

These.

Iori is my favorite Guile.

was meant for

And then there's Q.

>3 shotos and chn
Garbage. Alpha 3 has a much better roster, as do USF4 and SF5CE.

Alpha 3 despite inferior sprite work, manages to look better than Third Strike on account of the art style alone.

Eh, I like the character portraits and stages a lot but Alpha SF sprites always looked kinda weak to me when compared with anything else Capcom was doing at the time (Darkstalkers, Marvel, 3S)

Q is Q-pilled

It felt like they were more concerned with dumping everything they could into one game rather than making improvements.

Man I really take for granted how much easier fighting games have become to play on pad.
I can do anything I want on both sides of the screen easily and I almost never drop combos in SF5, Xrd or FighterZ, but trying to get something simple like a DP input down perfectly on Alpha 2 or SF3 is hard as fuck nowadays. I can still do it consistently on my old fight stick, but on a pad its a nightmare

I noticed this. Alpha 2 is very unforgiving with the inputs. When I revisit it, I'm shocked at how actually shit I am these days. Whiffing moves all over.

No, Alpha 2 was broken trash, the only people who claim A2 is better than A3 are people who never played either.

At least post the real reasons why it sucks like the valle ccs

Alpha 2 is far more broken than Alpha 3

its the pads that are shit I guarantee you. use a snes replica pad and its as easy as you remember.

Fucking this
God I hate it especially in Alpha 3
It might have given us Mika but fuck Alpha 3

i didn't like v-ism
of course, a2 has crazier stuff that you can do but it's much more fun looking just because of that
that said, i'm not really a fan of custom combo stuff in general so stuff like v-ism, kofxiii hd, maxmode, etc, would rather do without
it just seems like instead of working on mechanics for neutral, companies are more invested in trying to come up with combo mechanics instead, and that's why nu-fighters end up the way they do, because thinking about that doesn't enter their minds as much as "how do i make combo ez mode to do for nu players????" and they'll come up with combo mechanics and ways to do special moves easier in a combo
that's their marketing strategy
