Mainly the battle system. It's lacking in tactical depth and has a fuckton of RNG, the stages are very bland with little relevant variation that affects your strategy, there's absolutely zero effort put into balancing which inadvertently rewards the most degenerate tactics, etc. It just feels like a chore to slog through maps filled with enemies that zerg rush at you. And then once you get past that you get to the story part which I didn't like much either; Lucina is good but I dislike both the main character and chrom, plus many of the side characters are entirely based around irritating one-note tropes.
Basically, whatever you expect from awakening, when you play it you will be disappointed. You're better off playing something like PXZ2 if you want a SRPG with Lucina (not particularly good, but a million times better than FE:A).

As long as it takes to convert her to Catholicism.
