VIRTUA.
FIGHTER.

IS.
DEAD.
:(

I like virtua fighter on 32x a lot. I also like virtua fighter 2 for saturn. I will burn Virtua Fighter 3tb for dreamcast once I get some more blank CDs.

VF1 and 2 had good OSTs. youtube.com/watch?v=M7KVnHaqzD4

Sega won't give is any more Pai.

Fuck Sega. One of their most prestigious IPs and they just abandon it.

For me, it's Virtua Fighter 3 youtube.com/watch?v=ZDAAwn4dOS0

Because it flopped dude.

I like VF as well but it never really stood a chance once consoles really started selling. Tekken and DOA beat it.

VF had pretty good presentation all round up until 4 where they made everything bland and washed out

Sorry OP but Fighters Megamix was better

>the best fighting game stopped being made because it isn't coomish or gruesome enough

VF was fun, but i wouldt go as far as to say it was the best, also Sarah was coombait as well as a few others. VF simply died because it couldnt keep up with the competition.

You left out "cool", or maybe "over the top", which is what Tekken has over VF. Virtua Fighter is by designed more focused on the martial arts itself and depicting them in a more realistic light than most Japanese fighting games, which means it lacks demons, laser beams, robots, etc. like it's competitors.

The fact that it was probably the most technical out of all fighting games was what made it good, but also what made it far more niche than other games. In addition, it being drastically more realistic (no super moves, no overly long combos, no super flashy seizure anime effects, realistically slower movement, ect), basically meant that it didn't appeal to the childish fighting game community as a whole.

It's a damn fucking shame. By far my favorite series.

Virtua Fighter and Guilty Gear were the only 2 fighting games I really got deep into. Ever since Virtua Fighter died though, I haven't been able to get myself back into fighting games. Brad, Goh, and Jeffry were my jams.

its bizarre how deep vf is while still being insanely easy when starting out. like with goh I had a basic 4 hit combo does 40%.
if you ever have a group of friends over, just whip out virtua fighter. everyone gets used to it so quick.

its a damn shame sega doesn't care about the series and even half-assed the console port of vf5fs. they removed the fucking custom character intros which were big in arcades. they never patched not being able to join a room if a match is going on either. basically they fucking doomed the online even if the netcode was good.

>The fact that it was probably the most technical out of all fighting games
Its not even close to being the most technical fighting game, far from it in fact, VF was never a technical fighting game. the game also has long combos just like any other fighter. the fact you keep spouting MUH REALISM proves you actually know nothing about the game at all and are just parroting shit you read.

I like VF but dont try to pretend its something its not.

The game is just Rock, Paper, Scissors. its not deep at all.

Yeah no robots in VF at all..... retard.

that's doa. vf is huge about frame data knowledge, dodges and taking turns

Even Namco had to work hard to get Tekken where it is today. Haven't seen SEGA put forth that effort with Virtua Fighter when I've been following the series my entire life.

No its literally VF, Strike > Throw > Block > Strike RPS triangle. frame data exists in EVERY fighting game and "taking turns" is just what idiots say when they dont understand neutral.

I love VF but this "VF is a super complex game" meme needs to die already.

You can crouch to get out of throws and side step to get out of strikes.

you need to play vf5 more. dodges are insanely important with offensive move. simple "attack/block/throw" goes out the window especially when the best throw setup is a jab.

Sega are lazy fucks who only make an effort with Sonic, Yakuza, or Persona.

They don't give a fuck about most of their own IPs. VF is their "high quality" brand it was never going to survive in a regime where Sega cuts corners and re-uses assets, doing everything on the cheap.

>low health
>game devolves into low jabs
Good times

this is literally every fighting game what is your point? or do you prefer soul calibur 6's reverse rage system where damage scaling gets so bad you need a full combo to kill someone at 10%?

> Tecmo Koei uses VF characters in DOA5
> Sega can use DOA characters. AM2 want to make Fighters Megamix 2...Sega does nothing.

Just the utter inability of Sega to seize opportunities boggles the mind.

If it involves anything requiring effort, Sega won't bother.

They're trying.

You can play VF2.1 in the arcades found in Yakuza Kiwami 2.

ps5 game for sure
