I got this prebuilt for free, its an xps 430. how many of the parts do i need to replace to run modern AAA games?

is it not? dont you just need a lot of ram, a good gpu and cpu for gaming? i've literally never built a pc before so sorry if im being totally autistic

What is the CPU?

>replace to run modern AAA games?
all nigger

Fuck off.

If it was an ivy bridge i5 or better you could have gotten away with just a new video card. but a core 2 quad is way too potato today user

excellent bait

Here's what you need to replace:
>Power supply
>Mother board
>RAM
>CPU
>GPU

>sorry if im being totally autistic

you're not. the people ripping on you are autistic. that's why they're ripping on you.

the case alone is too small for a decent GFX card
unless you want your parts just hanging out of it

even on low graphics settings?
how many cores is enough?
what difference does the motherboard and power supply make?

you need to replace everything but the case...
new mobo
new cpu
new power supply that coincides with your mobo
new gfx card
more ram
and a HDD/SSD larger than 80gb

>even on low graphics settings?

To support those you need a modern motherboard and power supply. You can't just shove modern parts into a super old PC like that. You can probably upgrade it a bit but it's not going to reach the point where it can play AAA games, it would be a better investment to build a new one from scratch. Also if you build a new one from scratch it will be more future proof and compatible with new hardware further down the line.

bruh this shit is ancient. Also you've never built a PC and yet you want to try to replace a CPU?

At best you've got yourself a decent emulation machine/retro game station for shit up to the 4th gen. Install XP on it for true kino.

>how many cores is enough?
>if i get more cores bro will it help?

Attached: '[]k[p.jpg (1280x720, 69.08K)

Its not the number of cores but how powerful the cores are. Core 2/4 era is too weak.

That case probably cant fit a cut down video card, has bad cooling performance and likely doesn't have proper dust covers.

>power supply just says power supply

Attached: gargareg.jpg (474x315, 12.85K)

honestly i'd be fine with that, im already a poorfag, might as well look like it.
thanks man. can i make any money off selling the parts in this or is it total shit?
i may be retarded but im not stupid, i know cores are like in the cpu or someshit and probably cant be taken out. i ment how many cores in a cpu is good for modern shit

You need a power supply with more watts to run the aforementioned more powerful parts, and also that power supply that came with the PC is probably shit anyway.
Motherboard is also necessary because the CPU socket in the one on your old computer wont support anything made in the last 10 years or more.

Did you find it thrown out the back of some office building?

you guys think ignorance is funny?

>im not stupid
>i know cores are like in the cpu or someshit

save $500-$600, go to
>logicalincrements.com/
and pick whatever's good at the moment. normally, i'd recommend you to buy used old gaming pc off someone online, but you seem to don't know anything about general computer shit so risk of choosing badly is too high

i bet case has bad airflow, too

Ill take your word for it.
OP youre just gunna have to start from scratch.
or buy a modern pre-built and upgrade later

You'll probably want at least 4c/8t for "modern" shit, but seeing as you are a poorfag you will likely go AMD processor and they have all the cores.

nigga, just install an rx 560 and you;re set.

Now this is the mother load of retards right here. Dude you would be better off killing yourself.

>i thought we were going 4k?

Attached: yukfyuk.jpg (583x450, 43.96K)

I've found free PCs better than this on the side of the road. Sounds like someone didn't want to bother driving this shit to the e-waste depot and just gave it to you. You actually lost money in this exchange.

You want at least 16 cores for modern games. Luckilly, it is an AMD machine, so you can just swap out the crappy processor with a Threadripper. The 64 core one is way overkill unless you're gaming in 4k.

>what difference does the motherboard and power supply make?
New graphics cards are pcie 3.0 soon to be 4.0. Your motherboard will bottleneck it. Also you have a motherboard that supports intel gen 2. We are now on gen 10. It won't support much RAM either, in terms of capacity and speed. Again we are now on DDR4 RAM. Once you do get all your new components you will need a power supply that can handle it all. As everyone has said you need to replace everything but the case. At this point just build a PC from scratch, there is no point whatsoever in keeping the case. Just have a nice new PC and keep your old one because it was free.

OP, this one is a bit too old to just replace a few parts. It's 10+ years old at this point.

If the prebuilt was from 3-4 years ago you would have had better luck. But with this thing you essentially need to replace everything.

my dad moves furniture and shit for people and chairity shopes, every now and then he gets to keep a sofa or an old tv. he called me up a few days ago and asked if i wanted a pc, i said yeah, and he dropped it to my apartment the next day. he either got it from a charity shop or stole it and thought giving it to me would be better then selling it for crack money.

lmmaaaooooo core 2 quad OEM machine, why would you get this instead of an optiplex

you can do work in 1080 with the opti i5/i7 the psu have room too

This guy nailed it. You could maybe throw an older card in there to play older games or not graphic intensive stuff like LoL

i already use it for tf2 and gzdoom, but havent tried any other games on it yet.

>can i make any money off selling the parts in this or is it total shit?
Not really. You can sell the circuit boards to scrappers for about $20 maybe so they can extract any gold.
It's not a total waste though. If you can find a free, low power GPU like a 750 ti, then it will play a lot of older games just fine.

This shit predates even SATA2, like, holy shit, what are you doing.

i wanna play nudoom and mk11 doe ;_;

a 750ti is on par with a base xbox one

Yeah, but he'll be bottlenecked hard by the CPU.

user, is like wanting to play NuDoom and MK11 on a fucking GameCube. As many anons said, what you have there is a computer that could serve you for retro games if you install Windows XP, but if you want anything modern, you better start working on building your own PC. There are a lot of budget options for that but that PC you have right there is something you'd be using 15 years ago.

i was too lazy to read the entire thread but i didnt see the socket type anywhere
