I enjoyed Kiwami but stopped 0 halfway due to burnout. Is every game in series the same?

SU NAO NI I LOVE YOU

My experience exactly. Weird.

I couldn't even finish Kiwami. I wanted to, I was genuinely enjoying the story, but I couldn't. Gameplay is too repetitive.

I played Kiwami first, playing 0 now.
Really missing the Tiger Drop.

That line never made sense to me, that scene marked the first personal encounter with Kiryu. Which at that point he never had a judgement on Kiryu's character, personality and goals

0 as a starting point was bittersweet for me. For one thing, I feel Majima was kind of boring in Kiwami 1 after getting to know him intimately in 0 (although he did get much more fun in K2).

I feel like 0 or Kiwami 1 could've really used a small extra segment (a la K2's Majima Saga) to bridge the gap between 0 and 1, and flesh out some details between, like Kiryu and Majima having their first meeting and contextualizing Majima already being a patriarch by the very beginning of 1.

A Yakuza 0.5 someday with just Goro doesn't seem farfetched, now that we can have Yakuza games without Kiryu as the MC.

Depending on the timing of such a saga, you could maybe even use the burst of the Japanese Bubble economy as a framing device for some of the story. Like, maybe involving some throwaway villain who does drastic things to desperately try holding onto his Bubble-era prosperity/dealings that slip through his fingers.

Yakuza’s a turn based RPG series now though.

Now that I think about it, there's tons of other potential areas you could explore with a "0.5" besides what was mentioned:
>Shinji discovering and embracing the Yakuza life
>the start of Nishiki's feelings of inadequacy and insecurity
>maybe even slightly touching more on Ryuji (though this might be too fanservicey)

Can someone help me with these games? I enjoy the gameplay, but really struggle with how slowly everything progresses. Does the game get to a point where everything is explained/covered, and I can just do what I want? Or am I going to be getting stopped for a 15 minute detour whilst they explain some shit to me through a weird story every hour?
Are the newer releases better about it? I'm playing 0.

Did you play them back to back? I think the problem with Yakuza is it encourages you to do everything to excess. Instead of just playing the crane game a few times you need to win every prize. All songs need high scores. You need to fuck all the hostess. It just keeps going and going. Its fun and I enjoy it but I need a long break after I finish up them.

You mean a free roam? You can always stop mid story and mess around. You dont get pure free roam til after the story, which is around 20 hours

Same except I played 0 first and got halfway thru Kiwami. The game just started to feel like a chore.

>some people's first experience with Yakuza 1 was Kiwami
>Majima's appearances in the game's cutscenes are lessened by that Memejima Everywhere horseshit

And everyone else’s first experience was with the cringey English dub.

I mean this was my experience, but the Majima Everywhere thing wasn't a negative since he only appeared a fixed amount of times between chapters

I suggest you blow me.

>encounter this genuinely intimidating character who feels like at any moment something could set him off and he might kill you or anyone else around him

>couple hours later
>"ehhhhh, aren't I kawaii, kiryu-chan?"

I'm with you on this one. Playing them back to back was the biggest mistake I made when I replayed them on the PS3. They really are best enjoyed with a good break between them otherwise you start nitpicking small things and get annoyed with the samey'ness of the side content.

Why do I feel like youre just parroting a youtube video. Who gives a fuck.

>but muh impactful majima stabbing and his return

Yea I finished it eventually and I'm working my way through 2 now.

Please put on a trip so I can filter your posts in the future, thanks.

>hurr hurr ur opinion
Who cares about YOUR opinion you dumb fucking ape? God damned niggers on this board I swear. Can't have normal discourse with you shitkicking baboons crawling out of the woodwork with "no u." How would you even know what those shitty YouTube analysis videos sound like unless you actively watched them? Dumb fucking moron.

It also kills me too with sub stories. I usually try and finish them so I can fight Amon. Yakuza 3 had me waste like 3 hours fucking around 10 hostess. On top of the two hours needed to score a 0 in golf for that story. If I was a kid in school these games would have been the best bang for you buck but now its just miserable. Hopefully Yakuza 4 wont be as bad, havent touched it jn years

Seethe

What the fuck? Is this real?
If so I will fucking load up Yakuza 0 right now and play it. I need to experience this.

It's from Yakuza Kiwami

Oh, ok. I bought 0 on sale recently, and I never played a Yakuza so its on my backlog so I didn't know. Guess I'll fire it up anyway

Are the game stand-alone? Could I just pick up 0 and play or would I be missing context?

Is it just me or did Yakuza 0 ruin the series forever?

Its a meme feature in Yakuza Kiwami. Majima will pop up non stop to keep an eye on Kiryu. The zombie one is my favorite

You can play 0 without playing any of the others.

It's just you, gatekeeping faggot.

They’re not standalone at all, but 0 is intended as a jumping in point for new players anyways. The remake of 1 assumes you already played 0 first.

Majima is just the right amount of crazy, honestly.

Gets even more fun when you realize he's not actually like that, it's all an act just for funsies.
