Will this finally dethrone Civilization?

Depends on how well marketed it is, and how much the next Civ fucks up. It's an uphill battle though, look at the player counts for civ 5/6 and ES2/EL

civ fell off its throne with civ 6

Spbp

No matter how bad civ gets, and it's gotten pretty bad, if no one can take it's place in the public conscious it'll still retain it's throne by default. This is the first time someone's made a real try at it.

Not really. Everyone knows it's shit now but it's still the most well known and most sold 4x game series

As much as I am tired of hearing every youtuber that plays the alpha saying it as "Civ Killer?" as clickbait, as long as they give a strong, historic angle to look at things, it would gain traction. I hear a lot of new EU4/CK2 players are bitter Civ fans because Civs slowly fucks up the historical aspect. Fuck out of here with the secret societies, vampire units, soothsayer, alternate leader skins, Civ has really fallen.
Then again, the second Humankind trailer is stupid asf with a blue haired avatar speaking in Marvel movie quips, so I don't know.

100% depends on the normies and therefore, marketing. Endless Legends was better than Civ6 in every way possible.

Civ 5 is objectively shit

Civ 6 was not a disaster the way SimCity 2013 was.

If Civ 7 shits the bed and is an equivalent disaster then it might be able to sneak in the way Cities Skyline did. Helluva longshot though.

Doubt it. I like Amplitude's more stylish games, but they're not usually big sellers.

A year or so I read the dev talks about implementing slavery as a policies/choice in the game, increasing your productivity, but definitely has some concequences. He said that this is one of the thing that need to be adressed given how it often occurs in history and people should confront it like adults.
With how fucked up USA lately, I'm wary that they gonna pussyfoot around it lol.

This Civ games are in a bit of a bad way at the moment, but you need a total shitstorm to get the fanbase to move over to a different IP like with SimCity/Cities Skylines. But even if Civ 7 is a total shitstorm I'm not sure if people will move to Humankind. SimCity was dormant for a decade, and fans were itching for something new (and in 3D). If Civ 7 is a pile of trash people will just stick to Civ 6+DLC.

doesn't matter, it's the most popular civ ever

>not playing the best 4X

Civ 7 needs to have a serious revamp of the gameplay mechanics if I am going to buy it. Not gut 50% of the last game and then sell it as DLC.

fuck, wrong pic

not sure if that's a 4x user, it certainly is the best game in the thread though

>SJW shit
No.

POV: you have never felt the warm touch of a woman

the tits are temporary
the glory of the Mexican Empire is forever.

Depends on their AI. I'm sick of Civ AI

Vanilla 5 is shit and it took them 2 expansions to make it actually fun.
Civ 6 remains mediocre to this day despite all the stuff they added to it.

6 + expansions > 5 + expansions

worst lie ever spoken by mankind

I agree with himmy pc could only handle civ v for the longest time and when I upgraded and was able to play VI I was so happy and I loved it.

I heard it's better than Civilization V with the Brave New World expansion pack

>SNOWflake

>WATERbottle

Mankind was already taken

There's an interesting 4x game called "Old World" made by the devs of civ 4 but no one talks about it because the kike devs made the game an epic store exclusive which is a shame.
