I'm surprised more game like Persona 3 - 5 haven't popped up yet. Clearly there's a market for life sims.

A Highschool coming of age story with a more mediocre cast than P5.

My P5 concept before announcement was a small mountain town in America or Europe. The adult main character, a somewhat popular author facing writer's block, suddenly moves up there and takes up a job at a coffee shop. Personas would have been literary figures.

P5 ended up doing the coffee shop and literary figures so I'm fresh out of ideas. Maybe something that's even more Twin Peaksy than P4 was.

I am fairly certain if they stripped away all combat and just left the school life events and grind it would still sell like hotcakes.
The question is whether that would sell better than a VN.

I hope they do something different like set the game in an IRS office. There's no fighting shadows or any of that shit it's just you working in a boring office and doing paperwork. Social links are replaced with casual forced small talk with your coworkers that amounts to nothing at all. The final boss is accepting your mundane life

Here's the way to sell it- they cut out all the anime shit and it looks like a biblical rpg with a wacky cast of lovable orphan scamps who clean the lewd satanic thoughts out of the heads of weirdos.

Otherworld is a not-internet. Personas are avatars, similar to Navis from Battle Network. Users merge with their personas, and "wear" them like a second skin.
