It's always transparent as fuck when Trigger'd anons try and pretend a visually 10/10 and sonically 10/10 Square RPG with high production values released at the end of the PSX lifeline was "total shit".
Chrono Cross
it wasnt total shit
it just wasnt no chrono trigger
it was like wanting minecraft 2 and getting fortnite
zoomer
I dont understand
Dead Sea and the Miguel fight is still one of the highlights of PS1 era for me. The entire area reveals so much upfront and behind the scenes, including who Lynx really is and it culminates in killing the ghost father of your best friend.
It would have been better received if it was its own thing and didnt drag Chrono Trigger through the mud
The plot was utter chaos, the pacing is atrocious, and while the battle system is cool the 40 party members are so superfluous it makes things more annoying than they should be.
I respect the game for its ambitious and audiovisual elements but talking about it as a role-playing game it kind of fucking sucks. It's amazing how messy it is and how many things it's trying to do at once.
You could have just said "i'm a brainlet" instead of all of that.
40 party members was superfluous though.
I know nothing of this game, but I wish to copulate with this character
I WANNA FUCK THAT CLOWN
too much autism, didn't read
terrible game
What was his problem? Was it autism?
Calling the plot ridiculous doesn't mean I didn't understand the bulk of it. I'm just saying it's convoluted beyond belief and it drags the game down from the lack of real focus, which is entirely true.
The stories of repairing the timestream and fighting the supercomputer Fate in Chronopolis, the Dragon God and humanities relationship with nature, and cleaning up the loose ends with Schala should have been three separate games. They're mostly tied together thematically but none of them are allowed to be explored properly, relying on exposition dumps and last minute twists to unacceptable degrees to explain what the hell was happening half the game. It's one of the most poorly structured RPGs I've played, which is a shame because I like most of the ideas in it. Swapping bodies with the villain and having to live in his shoes for a third of the game is cool, traveling between two worlds and seeing different consequences for how environmental destruction and colonialism have warped the archipelago is a great setting, the massive explanation about Serge's dad becoming Lynx and how it relates to Schala crying that serves as the connective tissue is nonsense.
Fuck all that theres no way a retard like Dalton kills Chrono and Marle and a lv14 Furry kills my lv99 Lucca
>wanting to fuck a clown
haha
>visually 10/10 and sonically 10/10 Square RPG
By the way, what's the name of your Sonic OC?
Imagine if she pulled that out of her asshole haha
>>Pulling out
>>Of that
>>Never
As damn nice as it was you had way more choice for RPGS back then. Why like Cross when FFVII and IX basically do the same thing but without 40 useless characters.
Hell I even like Breath of Fire 4 more.
With sad, sad music to boot. You felt like you were beating the tar out of an old man that just sort of accepted it (I mean, he still attacked you, but that wasn't how you felt with the atmosphere). The Dead Sea in general was superb and the whole concept stuck with me.
>it wasnt total shit
>it just wasn't as generic as fuck as chrono trigger was
Don't see how that is a bad thing.
It wouldn't have existed if it was it's own thing.
I'm sorry reading is too hard for you user.
Chrono the Cross
I just cant get in to the battle mechanics. I have started the game dozen times but i end up dropping it after like 10 hours because i just cant get in to the battle mechanics. I admit, normal atb has just ruined me but thats what i grew up with and only had chance to play Chrono Cross once i turned like 25 so its harder to stray from the habits
Superfluous but not a bad thing. Its funny how many people mix those 2 as if superfluous automatically means bad or something. I mean, compared to other games, more important characters still get all the backstory you'd normally get, and as far as I recall, I think all characters get some sort of story rather than just being thrown on your team. It meets or exceeds the standard for the genre in that aspect, so it isn't damaging in any way. Now that means there are 40 characters so that more people can have different favorite characters. Not all of us just play games with the most powerful characters you can get. Hell, I've done solo character runs in Disgaea with the thief even though they are highly underpowered in most of the games.
I love monster raising games sonInloved having 40 characters. But I read they cut the Guile = Magus story partly because of time and because everyone would choose him instead of weird characters which sucks.
>overly defensive elitism and hurt feelings
Bread and butter of CC fanbase.
>partly because of time
I'd say there is other issues to help cause this so cutting tons of characters would have unlikely fixed the situation. I think the likely scenario is that they had some sort of backstory in mind but they hadn't finished completing that idea in their head immediately and needed time to work it out. So it isn't that the time was being preoccupied with other characters.
>I think all characters get some sort of story rather than just being thrown on your team.
How's the weather in Bizarro world?
Which characters get added to your game without any kind of story segment? Its been awhile and I may not have even used all the characters yet.
