The Xcom fps that would have been similar to Prey
Games that could have been

Man, I was so hyped for this game
Had posters of it from gaming magazines, stickers and shit
Feels bad
and turn the series into another generic FPS? No doubt we would be playing Xcom battle royal now.
I would have enjoyed this. It's a mix of Swat 4 and Xcom with a touch of X-files where you carefully navigate corners and be wary of aliens that can one hit kill you. Instead, we got a generic tps cover shooter.
None of you knew gameplay past one minute trailer, you pathetic sheep.
nuXcum is already braindead enough, and it would get worse with FPS shit.
its actually kind of unique
You think xcom is a cover shooter?
he is talking about this game

Yeah that xcom declassified game. Couldn't finish it. It was too shit.
>a turn based strategy game turned into a soulless FPS that is quickly forgotten
Where have I heard that one before?
>we got chimera squad instead of bureau 2
why
It's on the tip of my tongue...

Watch this and tell me this looks less intresting than any other XCOM tactical alien shooty-shoot game from the past. Your nuXCOM wasn't even out until 2012.
>Yeah that xcom declassified game. Couldn't finish it
I played it for like 20 minutes and gave up. It's soulless and boring. It screams "we only made this because of gears of wars success"
I would enjoy Xcom2 as a 3rd person squad shooter. Keep everything else exactly the same, same global map, same spaceship, same customization, except change turn-based to 3rd person shooter with real time tactical commands for the NPC's
oh right yeah forgot about that.
I dont think it would have been a generic fps, from the gameplay trailer they showed. It looed exactly how nu-Prey turned out
>we got a diversity the game instead of a game set in bigoted and problematic and bad vibes time period
I'd love a Bureau-like game set in Cold War but less linear.
Cold War is actually an agreement between East and West in attempt to contain ayy invasion
I never played it but that gameplay looks good, more like Full Spectrum Warrior than Gears of War. Tactical TPS where you issue commands can be a fun genre
I worked on this game. In my opinion it had a cool concept and ideas, but none of them came together. The gameplay loop just wasn't very fun. It honestly would have been received worse than the TPS they released after it was taken off our hands.
Great setting but the gameplay looked poor.
This looks pretty cool but it also seems like he could just bypass the tactical gameplay by just shooting everything himself
Any proof you worked on it?
I seen it when it was released.
Back then all I saw were reused assets and design confusion coming from aping both Bioshock and Gears of War.
The makers of the game was famously known for not playing any x-com game, and they didn't know Rainbow Six existed outside Vegas.
Only sheeple trust recut game trailers.
Only a couple of t-shirts that were given out at the studio, but they're packed in boxes. I joined 2K Australia as a junior level designer and worked on Bioshock 2, XCOM, an unreleased mobile game (was never even announced), and left just before they started work on the Pre-Sequel.
A few of the game's designers worked on the SWAT series. Of course they knew about Rainbow Six.
You are right about the design confusion though. Reused assets is understandable since it was still in very early days when the trailer was released.
What was the mobile game even about? And if thats true, its a shame the gameplay loop was never ironed out. Game looked like it had a lot of potential. Was fan reaction any reason why it changed so much?
Fuck I was just talking about this game last night.
Xcom declassified was pretty boring except for spoiler, which was really wild and great but nobody actually got to it because they dropped the game before that.
>Franchise named Spec Ops
>Could have been a replacement for Ghost Recon becoming open world ubishit
>Tactical shooter with semi open maps and variety of approaches and equipment
>Hell could have even had Hidden and Dangerous style missions
>Instead it's a linear muh violence in vidya bad shitty Apocalypse Now ripoff with 2000's shooting mechanics
Don't get me started on that. Love the setting but the gameplay is underwhelming. Imagine if the guys who made EYE Divine cybermancy made this. Now that would be killer.
