FUCK, I CAN'T FUCKING TAKE IT ANYMORE. I TRY TO CREATE A GAME IN UNITY BUT I AM BROKE FUCK WITH NO DEBTS MADE BY MY OWN FAMILY AND CAN'T AFFORD PC BETTER THAT 2GB RAM WITH INTEGRATED GPRAHIC CARD. EVEN SIMPLEST TASK THAT SHOULD LAST 5 MINUTES TAKES ME 30 MINUTES. UNITY OR VISUAL STUDIO NONRESPONDING AND I HAVE TO FUCKING RESTART IT SEVERAL TIME AND PRAY TO GOD IT WORKS PROPERLY.FUCK FUCK FUCK I WILL KILL MYSELF.
FUCK, I CAN'T FUCKING TAKE IT ANYMORE...

Write your own low spec engine.
Well, it takes capital so you're out of luck. Pick a new hobby.
I have found most of my computer on electronic junkyard
or just use godot.
I'm about to start a two year 3d design course and I have no fucking idea
Isn't that engine pretty shit?
I'm talking out my ass, so please clear my doubt.
better than unity that's for sure.
I use UE4 and I can't even program. I started off with a pirated asset of a FPS controller, added to it with tutorials, and now have the 'core' mechanics of my game down.
Now I just need to build the levels n shit.
probably the best engine currently for indie devs.
That's cool user.
It's drag n drop shit or you have to really know how to code?
it's free, open source, tiny and capable. best toolset for making UI based games.
i am making 3D jrpg in it right now and completed 2 educative projects in it which were for local school during the lockdown.
What good game uses it?
there is node based programing bullshit, but gdscript is one of the most intuitive and easy programing languages i ever laid my hands on.
you can do cheap upgrades buying parts on ebay
what computer do you have?
You might be able to buy another 2gb ram for $20 if you have available ram slots
and $20 dedicated graphics card if your psu can support it
Why do people act as if making games is something hard, or, god forbid, something you need to go to school for years and take seminars and shit on?
The last generation of devs were teenagers putting the skills they learned making wads and goldsource maps for fun into use.
did you reply to the right post? OP was just complaining about his shit PC
If you are looking for 3D, check others engines, like Torque3D or Stride3D, 3D part of Godot still under developed, and they are rewriting it for the 4.0 release, 2D on the other hand is well developed, and it's rather easy to work compared to Unity.

Develop in Source.
It still looks good and works on two decade old toasters.
what is with this shit advice
telling someone to use fucking torque or that other shit
If you actually want to make something and not fuck around with crap just use Unity or UE4
They are the most developed and have the largest community to help you
kingdom of the dump
gumgem
oddventure
bottomless
it gained popularity recently so there is not really all that much of good games (shit ton of shitty games though, which means it's accessible), most of them are 2D even though the engine is capable of 3D because most tutorial do 2D only. vulkan and way better visual sometime next year too.
Ty anons.
Now, how the fuck i start learning how to code. I really want to do something, but i'm an illiterate brainlet with 0 knowledge in coding.
unity and ue4 are bloated beast that wont run on his computer... did you even read op?
Because making Wads and Source maps are easy as fuck, the most brain power you'll spend is wondering what premade texture you're gonna use on that premade wall, there's barely ever any original assets. Heck, 1 half of Final Doom never used original assets.
Being a solo dev now, requires you to have a range of abilities; Design skills, art skills, programming skills, modelling skills, texturing skills, rigging skills, architectural skills, writing skills. Shit's not easy anymore, it just got a lot more welcoming over the years thanks to YouTube tutorials, books and classes.
i have ACTUAL brain damage and still can code in most programming languages. you can do it user. just watch some tutorials on youtube, then make a game.
Unity has dark mode now. Might start using it again.
Depending on what you want to make and your own programming ability you might want to consider using a library like XNA and build your own thing from the ground up. It's time-consuming but in some respects I found it less annoying than fiddling with Unity's interface and apart from anything else it'll only be as demanding on your PC as you decide to make it.
Bull fucking shit. It's not harder today. Nothing stops you from making a wad or a gamemaker rpg. Zoomers love all those lo-fi indies and they make bank off lazily made stuff like undertale.
i would agree that making games is much easier now, but the golden age of modding is over so it's arguably also a bit harder to get into amateur game dev in that regard. a lot of modders during the modding era managed to make a smooth transition into fantastic careers in game dev, but that's no longer really an option
I appreciate your words user.
I just wanna make some 2d shit with cute witches.
nah, I think he has a point.
making the same game is easier now than it was in the past. however the same game now won't sell because there are a million more competitors and standards for graphics have risen a lot. for an equal level of success a game now probably needs more work and more importantly it needs a marketing budget. there is more up front cost now. a decade ago if you could make ANY functioning game some company would pick you up, either a dev studio wanted to employ you (because junior devs weren't like grains of sand on a beach) or a publisher wanted to straight up release your game if it was presentable enough.
make a functioning prototype now and see if anyone gives a shit.
The golden age of modding is over because the people who once did mods for free just for fun now make indies they can make money off and not actually work just like everything else these days.
the golden age of modding is primarily over because devs intentionally try to hamper modders, instead of encouraging them like valve of old
