what, fads? they've had a few of them

Good. Pokemania was fucking horrible. Pokémon would’ve been far better off as a upper mid level franchise

>no togepi candy
>no mozart candy
>no pikablue candy

absolute shit

Tfw Resident Evil was this close to becoming a massive hit with children with RE4 I wonder what they could have done to keep the momentum going,It was like Pokemon with zombies levels of popularity back then in 2005.

Not in my school at least, everyone was still obsessed with Pokemon

Maybe kids went crazy with RE in my school , I didnt use internet back then so I wouldnt really know outside my area desu.

>pikablue
Was that a thing in burgerland too? I thought it was a spic thing only.

2005 is probably the lowest point for Pokémon in terms of mainstream popularity.
>Internet was still new enough not to have a impact
>not enough 90s nostalgia especially late 90s
>Ruby and Sapphire sold a lot as did Fire and Leaf but they were still seen as steps down
>DS made all GBA games obsolete despite backwards compatibility
It’s probably the last year for Pokémon to be uncool before Diamond and Pearl created the never ending Pokémon hype. Even Black and White which had lower numbers. Pokémon was still kept alive because both the Internet fans and nostalgia was hoisted into the collective consciousness

Did kids drop Pokémon for yugioh in your school? Everyone in mine did when I was in 4th or 5th grade. Helped that people actually knew how to play the yugioh card game

Yep. Nobody knew what it was called back then so Pikablue was what people went with.

When I was in school everyone dropped Pokemon post around the early 2000s. Harry Potter, other vidya or even Sonic was talked about alot more.

Same but shockingly they all came back for Diamond and Pearl.

Understand what? Mass consumerism? Still a thing, buddy.

Zoomers will never comprehend

I never had the Pop Tarts.

>arrow key turning
lmao

>not eating the crust
cringe

pocket monsters are the gateway to satan himself

I WANT TO GO BACK

>Ruby and Sapphire sold a lot as did Fire and Leaf but they were still seen as steps down

what kind of revisionist history is this

graphics and number of pokemon are the two things that the average consoomer care about and RSEFrLg improved dramatically over GSC on both fronts

>black and white was meant to be a soft reboot of the series
>150 new pokemon. No old ones no faggot pikachu everywhere
>autists REEEEEEEEEEE
this will always annoy me. GF backed themselves into a corner making 100+ new pokemon every generation and now we have like 1500 shitty pokemon and only like 100 cool ones

Not in terms of quality but in sales and cultural impact it wasn’t the same. Pokémon would’ve still been popular but it would be a slide down until it reached a couple million worldwide as it should. The shocking success of the DS and gen 4 ended the natural decline

You absolutely blame that REEEEEing for the shitshow that was Gen 6. And since X and Y sold well Pokémon will never be the same

>>no mozart candy
Good, fuck Mozart

congrats its lucky charms but with pokemon oh how I poor zoomer missed out on this great invention

This is why The Pokemon Company got away with axing the anime's original english voice actors. All the kids that were the primary engine of pokemon's popularity were in middle school/highschool at that time and 'too cool' to still be a fan.

If they tried to replace Veronica Taylor today there would be a social media uproar.

cope and seethe

here pokemon didn't even stick. instead it became an easy target for bullies

I am seetheing so fucking hard how can I miss out of coomsumerism this good
