Yes, Lucas died in the ending so how he's in smash?
no.I don't care. Undertale made this series irrelevant
It's up in the air what happened at the end. Everyone seems to be okay somehow but that's all you can glean.
The dragon had equal parts good and evil from the needles so the world ending or reincarnating could both be probabilities.
I love this game but it felt short compared with Mother 2
After Itoi's comments about never making another Mother game, I assumed this game would wrap everything up and completely exhaust all the potential of the series.
After playing it, I feel like there's endless potential for more games in this Universe, either only barely connected to the previous ones as 3 is to 2, or spiritual sequels only set in the same world.
I respect Itoi's decision not to make more and I normally think people who are always clamouring for a sequel to everything are a bit ridiculous, but it is kind of a shame there won't be another one.
My first playthrough of the game clocked at just under 25 hours. Was Mother 2 actually longer?
At least the Mother fan community is still going strong. Like as of now we've got Mother Encore, Mother2 and of course Oddity/Mother 4. They all look quite great.
Never could get into 1 or 2, but this hit all the right notes for me. Both metaphorically and literally, because the battle system makes the game feel so much more engaging.
The cast is so small that it's easier to get to know characters and warm up to them, which made the story far easier to get in to. Seeing shit change over time and how the people of Tazmily were manipulated was really fucking cool and heartbreaking, and the story in general was just a real fun ride.
Really? I had no idea about those first two. How long has "Mother 4" been in development? I remember excitedly awaiting release years and years ago, until I eventually decided it was vaporware and gave up on it.
Mother 4's been in dev hell forever and only this year was it rebranded as Oddity while looking like it'll actually come out soon.
Mother Squared is a full remake of Mother 2 with Mother 3 style flourishes/art and it's battle system and Mother Encore is a full on remake of Mother with added content.
M3 is 30 hours while M3 is 25 hours, not sure what that guy meant.
It's probably the only EarthBound game that's competently made and whose gameplay isn't an embarassment for the console it's on.
Mother 3 was much, much more story/character focused then either 1 or 2. Less of a road trip style journey to find thingamajigs while experiencing different things along the way and more just a story about a small village getting corrupted by technology and convenience.
Pretty good but the story really wasn't that impressive for how much it gets hyped. I liked it more for its charm than anything.
duster was based yes?
Certainly a devoted dad.
>Mother2
?
Was suppose to be a 2 as in squared but I guess Zig Forums doesn't except that.
That’s interesting. Because I finished the game in 24 hours. I lent my friend my physical copy and he had 21 hours sunk into the game and was stuck on the jealous bass in chapter 4.
First time I played it ages ago I was stuck on the fucking Mecha-Drago, though my most recent completed playthrough I got stuck on the bass too for a bit, though you just learn to have Boney use AoE bomb damage and a PK Love to get rid of the drum and guitar then it's mostly smooth sailing.
its been a while since ive beaten it. not sure if i should play earthbound first tho. love the music in the series.
Sections of Mother 3 become a bit more nostalgic/poignant if you played Earthbound first.
its been at least five to six years since ive played them both. i never bothered with beginnings so maybe i should just start that one.
I hated the first game. It's so fucking grindy and directionless.
Not to mention the three different maze dungeons that can suck my dick.
ive only heard bad things about it. did you play the original or the fan improved version? also how was the dialogue/story?
It would have been longer if it wasn't on the GBA. From old n64 screens and interviews we know a lot of story was cut.
Here's some concept art for Wes I found that I love posting since we never got anything but pixel art.
The original.
Story's fine. Pretty charming. Really good music.
Really does feel like the party members were prototypes of Ness, Paula and Jeff, though Lloyd is a lot more of a total weenie.
It's not a bad game at all most people are just fucking idiots who dont like NES RPGs because they're so shitty at them. I remember when it came out on the Woo U literal children on Miiverse were better at the game then Zig Forums. Its worth playing if you want to experience where everything in 2 came from and a nice story that wasnt really touched on in 2. If you enjoyed pokemon red and blue you could probably enjoy a NES RPG unless you're close minded, shit taste and bad at games or have 0 attention span and patience.
is this meant to represent the final product or is it just an early idea? looks completely different from what i'd have imagined
And here's Lydia before they made everyone uhhhhh fabulous
Not that user, but I played the Demiforce hack.
The dialogue/story's the good point. The golden point is how there's this entire world that opens up after Merrysville Factory.
You NEED to know how the battle system works completely. You can't just grind up and smash up. You can fucking rampage against red snakes you'll still get your head handed into your ass at any enemy past the Zoo.
Oh wow, the Magypises weren't always gay Japanese crossdressers? Color me surprised.
Though honestly I wouldn't have them any other way *heart*
It's just esrly ideas and concept art by the guy who did the pixel art in the game. The guy still makes a lot of mother 3 stuff for his Twitter too.
i think im just going to start with that one then. as long as the story and characters are good i can hopefully see past the grinding.
no... because i just started EarthBound for the first time :)
any tips?
From what I can tell buffs and shields are super important in Mother just like in Mother 3. It's probably just because Mother 2 has pretty much no debuffing needed and mostly only PSI shields are used around late game.
