God this game was fucking garbage lmao
Sometimes your contrarianism goes too far user

the surge series is soulsborne for children
awful game

Any game where the gameplay doesn't revolve around waiting for enemy attacks is better than Sekiro.

I got really far in this. Got to the transformers like enemies that did spins. I stopped playing cause the game was ass and that was as much asshatery as I could take. It's like Dark Souls, for people with trisomy 21.

I recently bought the first part for cheap and started playing. Like it so far. Can't defeat that first PAX boss though. Everytime I think I finally get his rythm he just pulls some new shit out of his ass. And healing costs so much energy that is only gained by hitting things.

And in the same area there is some mobile smelter crane thing that I just can't beat. How does one do that?`Or is that thing some optional boss for later? And what about that guy in the funky white armor right behind the flame crane? I tried luring him away from the crane to kill him, but he is tough and fast as balls. Stunlocks my ass. And even if i manage to get him low enough to cut, he just instantly heals himself back to full life. Bullshit.

>the surge
lel

>And in the same area there is some mobile smelter crane thing that I just can't beat. How does one do that?
Hit and run. How I got far is just equip a hard hitting weapon, hit, then roll back. Hit, then roll back. Hit, then roll back. Don't try to melee fight. Enemies have infinite stamina, infinite range, infinite tracking and infinite hurt boxes. The game is balanced around you using +50Hp chips and such. There is also a chip that restores 20% total Hp per execution, so if you have +Hp, you will restore a lot of Hp.

>And what about that guy in the funky white armor right behind the flame crane?
Drops rare armor and weapons that will last you a while. Hit and roll my man. This isn't dark souls, don't try to evade, parry, block, or bait attacks. Just hit and roll. Hit and roll. Hit and roll. I suggest looking at a guide or protip online, the game is full of shitty hidden mechanics that you should learn. Like how heavy weapons stagger enemies if you hit them enough. How heavy armor does fuck all to help you. It's all about the +Hp chips my man.

You have been filtered.

You should see its sequel. It's even worse. I couldn't believe that shit.

fpbp

OP..... is a contrarian nigger......

iirc every boss has some hidden challenge and if you do it then you get a version of the boss weapon with better base stats

i think the better PAX weapon is so good it can carry you through the whole game

I'll say this though, at least The Surge is better than Hellpoint and Lords of the Fallen.

But can we all at least agree that 1 is leaps above 2?

>Lords of the Fallen.
I have played and beaten Lords of the Fallen. The Surge despite being made by the same people, is a huge step back. Surge 2 was even worse from what I heard. Like I said, Surge was so awful I didn't even beat the damn game. 50hrs, and I just walked away disgusted.

These aren't bad games. I'd consider them some of the only decent alternatives to actual FromSoft Dark Souls and Sekiro titles, if you want the gamestyle.

I hear from some that The Surge 2 is leagues ahead of 1, but I can't confirm it. I tried out 1 and was enjoying it, but something else came out so its on my backlog. I should finish 1 and play 2 to compare. Thankfully they're both on PC and can be had for significant discounts if you wait/search.

Surge 2 is pretty good, never played the first one

Ok that sounds like good advice. Thank you two. I will try it tomorrow.

I have all the +HP chips and have a somewhat high base level since I am completely new to this kind of gameplay and played it safe for a while.

I will try your hit and jump tactic, sounds good.

>pic related what i would like to have in that game

I still remember when Yantzee called The Surge shit because he couldn't beat Big Sister kek

Why do people lister to that retard again?
It was kino. I just wish they implemented the directional parry system of the second

Now that's a bad take

Big Sister is the multiple phase crane boss, correct? It's so fucking easy. Just do the first phase, then walk to the end of the arena and wail on it. It literally can't reach you.

the surge 2 is the best souls game

Almost shovelware

I played Lords and The Surge; I'm playing The Surge 2 right now.
Lords of the Fallen wasn't bad but it was pretty "meh". It had some interesting ideas but the game was very short and flawed.
The Surge is a really good game and a big step up from Lords of the Fallen. Some of the areas have better design than most of Dark Souls' maps and the limb-based combat is pretty brutal.
I'm not sold on The Surge 2's setting and overall design (it's too lineal compared to the first game) but the combat is great and had many interesting improvements (like the drones having all kinds of useful improvements, or partial armor bonuses).

I will never understand why Zig Forums calls The Surge series "shovelware".

>Skills are badly designed; literally no reason to not use health skills whenever they're available
>Someone thought it was a good idea to make I WAS BORN IN A PRISION WITH NO HOPE FOR ESCAPE play in literally every "bonfire"
>No reason to ever switch weapon since the one you use levels up with you

I mean, what can I expect from someone who thought Lords of The Fallen was a "meh" instead of garbage.

>Clunky, slow animations that affect the fights
Not really. Have you tried not using heavy rigs or using a fast weapon? Not very different from using heavy armor and weapons on other games.

>Horrible boss fights
The only fun boss fights were against the Cerberus armor captain, the final boss and Carbon Cat but the others were serviceable. The so-reviled Big Sister fight is just an exercise in dodging and watching out for the laser.
>youtube.com/watch?v=M762q_D0bDo
Not even going to watch it; probably it's one of your youtube boyfriends telling you what to think.

>Skills are badly designed; literally no reason to not use health skills whenever they're available
Buff injections are very useful, so are battery-related implants especially when your build is supported by it.

>No reason to ever switch weapon since the one you use levels up with you
Except upgrading your damage or energy consumption, or bonuses from certain sets (like the ANGEL one). Did you even look at the inventory screen?

>Someone thought it was a good idea to make I WAS BORN IN A PRISION WITH NO HOPE FOR ESCAPE play in literally every "bonfire"
>Makes a big deal about the player being in a wheelchair at the beginning; goes nowhere with it
>MC is voiced for no reason
>Story is forgettable
Worthless opinions

Is The Kraken any good?
