They wanted to have at least one good game with RTX.

Honestly surprised there isn't more of this considering how frequently publishers have been cashing in on "remastering" old games...

I'd play Morrowind RTX.

why not?

It's actually preddy tight.

kinda looks like halo infinite with those flat textures and colors

it can't even do 60 FPS on the highest settings with the most powerful build, making it the hardest game to run currently

it was retarded

you are retarded

3000 series soon?
I want my 3080ti

In theory, RTX can actually be used to replace most traditional lighting altogether, allowing for the rest of the normal cores on the CPU to dedicate themselves to things like more detailed textures and the like

To showcase tech.

the image looks kinda noisy?

Give us HD character models like half life got and I'd pay money for a morrowind remake

stupid ignoramus spotted

>what is a tech demo

Raytracing could be a godsend for many old games. Imagine Thief or Deus Ex with RT.

tech demos should be fun. See: Crysis and Half life

>yellow daylight just like planet earth
Wasn't the stroggos planet a very orange one with no flora and also a red star making most light an orange-red mix?

>implying Quake isn't fun
But aside from that, they probably chose Quake because the engine code is available on github or whatever. Also the point of a tech demo is to demo tech, no reason it has to be fun or even interactive at all.

good art direction and handpicked, handcrafted lighting that is specifically tailored and fine tuned for the gameplay >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> your zoomtastic turd racing.
fuck off and blow it out your ass.
raytracing is only good for lazy subhumans who don't want to bother to put the effort into their games and balance their game
just eat fucking shit and die

I would've preferred they did it to Quake 1

To show what is capable by adapting old game to it
And they are fans of Q2

cope

But raytracing literally just builds upon the things you just mentioned you fucking retarded ape

Runs like shit on my 2070, rtx is truly a meme

Quake 2 didn't really have handpicked lighting. You basically had a single light source to create one flat look spread across the entire level and it looked really washed out. Quake 1 actually had direct lighting which is why it has so much more contrast between light and dark areas.

Looks good but tanks the frames hard currently, not worth buying RTX cards just yet.

To provide content for soul / soulless edits.

Its cool, but RTX needs a certain genre that would benefit from it, something from the horror genre like Doom 3, or even something more atmospheric like a Bioshock game. Those kinds of games would be killer apps for RTX cards.

Does Quake 2 support DLSS? I swear right now that Control and Metro Exodus look better than it with RTX enabled.

To show off a new technology you dumb mouthbreathing ape

I don't know what they were thinking.

>CDPR remasters Quake 2

now thats REAL quake

He's never going to reply to you.

wow guess we better stop progression pack it up bros its over back to playing with our rocks

how is RTX able to improve old game's visuals like this? they must be remapping everything in the game to pull this off

You can change time of day
