Compared to what? Shit like River City Girls, Streets of Rage 4, or Double Dragon Neon? Because those are all better even if they are 5/10's. People only talk about the graphics and the music, the gameplay is pretty fucking mediocre for Scott Pilgrim.

A decent beat-em-up, but with great sprite art and music. It's about as good as River City Girls in terms of modern River City Ransom-style beat-em-ups. The best modern beat-em-ups are definitely Streets of Rage 4 and The Ninja Warriors Once Again though.

It's also nice to see a game pulled from stores make a come back instead of being in licensing hell forever. Now if only Afterburner Climax & Activisions early-2010s Transformers games could make such comebacks.

How dumb do you have to be to not understand that just because a mechanic works in one game that doesn't mean it'll work in another game? A single mechanic doesn't mean shit; all game mechanics have to work in tandem for the game to be good. RCR's stat system works because the game is a light RPG with a world to run around in and events to see all over the place with fights you can get into that will fuck you up if you do them too early because you're meant to power up and come back later. That stat system doesn't work in SP because it's a linear stage-based game with no other RPG mechanics beyond stats, so you just keep raising your stats in each stage because each stage gets enemies with better stats, and then if you want to go back and play an earlier stage you'll steamroll it because your higher stats can't be undone.

It's a solid beat-em-up with great music and spritework. It's not SoR-tier but it's fun especially on co-op regardless
