There is one rotation for every class that you either stick to or suck ass compared to those that do. Some classes have RNG weaved into their rotations which can cause their dps to vary wildly, and since it's RNG they have no control over it. This has nothing to do with the GDC.

The story is legit good, it's the best part of XIV. But the gameplay is complete shit for an RPG, much less an MMO. There is no sense of player expression, all healers, tanks, DPS function nearly identically and there is no nuance in choosing gear beyond bigger number = better. Every combat encounter has a specific solution intended by the devs and the only challenge is getting your entire party of blithering idiots to actually all follow instructions simultaneously. There is a little bit of fun to be had when content first comes out trying to guess what the intended solution is but that excitement only lasts a couple days.

Not to mention this is supposed to be a Massively Multiplayer game but every quest outside of the dungeons is really just hindered by having other people around and faster to do alone. And if you're doing the MSQ you are constantly forced into single player battlefields which you can't even lose because you are physically not allowed to enter them under leveled.

I could go on. Everyone shit on FF13 for being too linear, well 14 might have open maps but the things you can actually DO and the styles you can play are way more limiting than 13 ever was. It sucks as an MMO, it sucks as an RPG, and it's the worst Final Fantasy game outside mystic quest
