I recommend trying. Just create server and put tournament mode on from commands for infinite time. Also use impulse 101 to get charge instantly back(need sv_cheats 1)

I just realized that a big portion of TF2's enormous skill ceiling is just the core movement mechanics. WASD + space. the way you slide for a while after stopping allows for counter-strafing and rewards correct prediction of deceleration. how momentum is retained while airborne makes correct timing of jumps vital. this element is almost completely absent from OW.

one major gripe I've always had with TF2, though, is how hitscan inaccuracy is nothing but random spread. i think some sort of compensatable recoil wouldn't hurt the game.
