if you like arcade style racing, Slipstream is probably my favorite. Most of the courses are named after Sonic acts like Oil Ocean or Ice Cap, which is cool.

not him, but i wouldn't really say this. burnout paradise is without a doubt different than your typical racing game but that's mostly why i like it. it's nice to just cruise around the city at full speed with *some* good music. the small challenges are just a nice bonus.

Burnout Paradise is more around smashing stuff around the city and wrecking cars than pure racing unlike Test Drive Unlimited
Flatout also has more focus on racing than just destruction

that's just a regular racing game though. this is an open world one and a lot of the fun is figuring out the best route with your mastery and knowledge of the map.
