How does this build look? I don't plan to do any crazy overclocking. Should I downgrade the motherboard to something like the MSI B450 Tomahawk?
Any other suggestions?

Go for 32 GB ram
You don't have anything that requires the X570 chipset so I would save the money and just get an B450 motherboard.
>seagate HDD
OH NO NO NO
Aren't they going to be significantly more expensive? How soon?
Why x570 and not b550 ? x570s have chipset fans (point of failure) and cost a lot more and are all last gen peak too?
b550 is newer.
You think RAM will be the bottleneck on this PC?
Yeah that's what I was thinking, I just lose 2 SATA ports on it but still will have 4 so probably fine.
Why not? I already have that hard drive in my current PC, never had any issues with it so far?
iirc seagates are notorious for shitting themselves and dying way faster than shit like wd and samsung
unless i've got my companies mixed up but i don't think i do
Which would would you recommend? Do you think I need a B550 or is a B450 good enough? I don't want to sacrifice any speed but I don't think there is any speed loss anywhere, just a loss of some SATA ports.
>buying windows
It looks weaker than the PS5 lol
buying a 20 series when the 30 series is going to drop soon...
Also this
I just put it on there to show the OS lol. I can get a copy from work.
b550 gives you option for future CPUs
b450 for current ones
Look at slots and sockets and that's all you need, I think they perform the same currently.
Get a better (more expensive) board if you want to overclock, more vrm (cubes near CPU slot) usually means better overclock support but I wouldn't worry too much about it for a 3600, even a 3700 should be fine on a weaker VRM with a mild overclock
I have a b450m steel legend, its ok I guess.
good luck actually getting all that shit in the next four months
Adding onto myself
Don't pay for extra pcie slots and things you aren't going to use (like WiFi AX and thunderbolt). Sometimes add-on cards are also better value than getting it inside the motherboard. Ethernet 2.5gb is a meme since most people barely even saturate a 100mbps connection still
Cool thanks for the info, sounds like the B550 is the way to go. I'll have to research some boards!
Nearly all of it is available at my local computer shop? And also on newegg? Why do you think it would be hard to get?
Post the fucking partslist URL, dumbass. It's impossible to give recommendations without sticking to your original budget and nobody wants to iteratively search for 9 different components on pcpartpicker when you can just post the partslist url.
No worries, you shouldn't notice any performance difference between boards except maybe between the very top and bottom ends and even then it should be minimal, as in any deviation is actually bad
Gamers nexus did a full rundown on it and over the past few months of corona they've basically released enough content that anyone interested could pretty much catch up to what everything is and how it works, and theres "actually hardcore overclocking" who seems to know about motherboards and literally nothing else
Finally, I hope you aren't buying retail in Australia, online will save you hundreds from .au retailers

I didn't post it because I don't have a hard budget limit. I just don't want to waste money on something that is overkill. I'd rather just upgrade components every year instead of spend 5k now. and it's still obsolete in a few years.
I'm from Canada, my local shop price matches any online shop in Canada so I tend to just buy from there and price match.
32GB Ram. You're a cheapass if you don't with how cheap it is now. Also, RTX 2080 if you can afford it. The midrange Nvidia cards are a meme. Overpriced for what they are, and you'll have to upgrade way sooner than if you went with the RTX 2080 so you'll spend more in the long run. Either go full low-end cheapstake and buy some noname AMD card or go all in and get the 2080, or wait for the 3080 if you don't absolutely need the PC for another month or two.
Do it right. You will be much happier in the long run.

>recommending spending $700+ on a terrible GPU that barely outperforms a 4 year old 1080ti that was cheaper at launch, when next gen Nvidia is literally a couple weeks away
Are you an Nvidia shareholder by any chance
get a better case
If you just bought the PC on the op it will probably last 5-8 years doing all games now on high/ultra 1080 no drama and probably just medium/high by the time 7 years rolls around. Of course it could use some tweaks but you don't need a super expensive machine now to play games at decent specs.
Don't @ me about 1080, its the standard and fine. With the PC op listed I doubt he's going to get a 4k monitor or anything like that
>hdd in 2020
Lies. Always go for the best CPU if you want locked 60fps or higher framerate gaming. I advise waiting for Zen 4 or going for Intel.
I wouldn't buy a 2070 right now with the 3000 series being announced in two weeks.
This. Like I alluded to in my comment here , half assing it with midrange stuff is a bad idea that will actually cost you more in the long run. This user's build will last you the entire 9th generation in all likelihood whereas if you buy midrange parts you're setting yourself up on the infinite treadmill of buying new midrange parts every 2 years to keep up with people who buy high end parts every 6 years.
> when next gen Nvidia is literally a couple weeks away
I mentioned that if he's OK with waiting 2 months for his PC then waiting for the 3080 would be preferable
>recommending spending $700+ on a terrible GPU that barely outperforms a 4 year old 1080ti that was cheaper at launch
Source on these claims. Also, if buying a 2080 is retarded, then buying a 2070 is extra retarded, because it's going to be outdated even sooner.
Never build a half-assed "midrange" rig. If you're poor then build a $500 budget rig for 1080p 60hz. If you have the money then spend $2000 on a really nice one that will last you a whole generation or longer. But don't fall for the "buy midrange components the upgrade them every 2 years" meme.
>1080, its the standard and fine
For betas, perhaps. But to deliver maximum pleasure, 144 frames per second sync'ed to a 144hz monitor displaying in 1440p resolution is the orgasmic sweet spot for alphas.
tl;dr - you are a buffoon if you spend money on a gaming pc build designed for 1080p.
RIP fish
Ryzen 4k series round the corner
Nvidia 3000 series super soon
And big navi maybe soon too
Bad time to buy a new CPU and GPU if you're looking AMD/nvidia unless you can get a really nice deal
You don't actually own a pc, do you.
Wait for the NVIDIA 3000 series
Alright you fuckers, you convinced me to wait for the 3000 series. I don't really have a budget limit I just don't want to needlessly spend money for minimal/no noticeable performance increase.
Should I be waiting for a new CPU as well? Or just go balls deep for the i7-10700K? Like this guy suggested
10600 is the one that wins awards. But 8 cores will probably be standard soon thanks to consoles
